New from Massachusetts

Postby Nicki » Wed Apr 13, 2011 7:35 pm

Hi!
I'm a 24 year old, camper from Massachusetts, and I've never been camping in a teardrop before. I've been camping several times, always in my familys ancient, canvas topped pop up dated from the 60's. Loads of fun, but too much for just one person.
I'm looking to build one. I don't have a lot of know-how myself, but my dad is handy with just about anything, so we'll be working on it together. Just need to find the best place to get plans and I'll be up and running!
Looking forward to getting it done and doing some camping. Eventually (read, 2-3 years) I plan to head out on a roughly 3 year trek of the country, but that's a ways in the future, and even if it never happens, I'll have an awesome trailer to take wherever my wheels can take me. :)

Welcome to the forum.

I am a very long way from Massachusetts, but I love your state. I love Cape Cod in the summer -- it is a great place to get away from Texas summer heat.

If you like tent camping, you will like teardrop camping, too. You have something that keeps you off of the ground, and has solid walls, but it still feels like you are camping.

I look forward to seeing your build thread.

Welcome. I was born and raised 50 miles south of Boston. I still make the trek up every 4th of July to camp on the Cape with my family, who are all still up there. My favorite getaway of the year.

My brother will hopefully finish our TD in a couple of months. It's being built 'up home'. :)

That's great! I got the feeling that only us 'old farts' were the ones doing this stuff until the new (younger) builders started showing up.

Good luck and keep us posted. Work fast, work hard and tell 'daddy' to work out the details. You'll have a blast and meet some of the nicest people you have ever met.

These folks are SUPER! :)
