I wouldn't know about warmer here in Western Washington.
We are having one of the coldest springs since they started keeping records.
Had mixed snow and rain last night.
They extended the date for removing snow tires 3 times.

Last year during October, we went to Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky. We had always seen the big stone arches out west and said we had to go see them one day. Then we found out that we had the same thing just a few hours drive from here. It is a really beautiful place when the leaves start changing.

My birthday is a holiday, Veteran's Day, Nov 11. Since we're off work, we headed to Rend Lake south of Mt. Vernon, IL, and camped at Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park. The weather was unseasonably warm that week. It was great!

Big Trees State Park on hwy 4 just east of Murphys or Angels Camp. Lots of wineries. During the week the park is almost empty. Fall asleep to the sound of the wind blowing through the tops of the pine trees. Very close to Heaven.

Deadline for ordering my RR to be able to hit the road beginning of Nov is 1 Aug. That gives me three months to get it, stock it, plan it and take off in it. I really do not want to spend another winter in Illinois. My county is beautiful spring through the Fall, especially the Fall. People come form all around for the Fall colors but winter is the pits. Since I've plan to relocate to either TX, NM or AZ as soon as I sell me house, I was thinking of heading that way. I've family spread out across TX and some old army buddies in TX and OK too.

Since I've yet to order my RR, I've been acquiring other needs that will accompany it:

Checklist:

So far............acquired.

Coleman Stove
Two coolers
Gas grill (small portable)
Plenty of gas
Water

Which brings me to another question. Generator??????? I know Honda is top of the line for quietness and I'm sure quietness is recommended to be neighborly but they are also quite expensive. Quietness, portability, lightweight and at least 3000 watts. I'm ordering an AC unit but won't always will be using it because I won't be going out during the real hot times of the year, july/aug for sure.

I saw a 3000 Honda at Farm and Home today for $999.00. Thought that was good.

Oh yeah, we are always happy to have people from outside SouthCentral come on down to LCG. The more, the merrier.

October down here is one of the best times of the year, with comfortable t-shirt weather by day, and cool enough to sleep well weather by night.

We sometimes get rain -- some of it natural, and some of it man made.

Otherwise, we can camp through the winter down here. We have a regular gathering just before Christmas, and another one for New Year's Eve.

On the other hand, July and August down here usually sees our teardrops in hibernation. :sweaty:

If you get cabin fever in Illinois, come on down. Here is our schedule for 2011...

The trees turn in the first or second week of November in Arkansas. I have camped along the Talemena trail during that time, and it is usually good camping weather, and the roads and scenery are stellar.

We will probably have some kind of gathering in November around the DFW area, but nothing is on the calendar, yet.

Keep us posted on your travel plans in the South Central section of the forum, and a few of us may join you for a weekend if you are close by.

And, if you need a driveway for the night, or need to do some repairs, there are plenty of us with parking space and tools.
