Hubby needs more amenities and, when I'm going solo, the teardrop is more than I need.
1946 Kit Replica Teardrop, built in 2006. Sleeps two nicely on a full-size mattress. It has real 1946 kit fiberglass fenders. We have used it for camping, as a guest bed, for show, and in parades. It has been kept in the garage. No leaks. 8' x 4.5'. Dry weight is about 750 pounds. Very easy to tow. It also comes with a stabilizer jack, tongue jack, tongue box, side table, deep cycle battery (for 12v lights & plug), mattress, bed sheets, and several wicker storage baskets.
We purchased the teardrop in 2008 from its northern California builder. This is what the builder's ad said: The teardrop has a Kit profile from original skins but is 54" wide. The fenders are restored from a '46 Kit. It has a 2 x 2 1/8" angle iron frame with a 2 x 3 1/8" tongue. 15" wheels and Flexiride 1400 lb. half axles. All 12 volt, no 110. Shelves rather than cabinets in the galley and interior. 1/2" okume walls with 1 1/2" isulation in the roof. 4" foam mattress included along with aluminum covered side table.
Since we've had the teardrop, we have repaired and re-painted the original fiberglass fenders (to match our truck) and purchased new tires. Pictures at: https://picasaweb.google.com/NWsage/Teardrop#.
