Mike you don't have to register but if you want the License plate and Route 66 bag you can call them and register.

Just got my TTT inspected and registered today, so I should be able to make the Fun Run. I would be happy to tag along with you on Friday. Will you take I-17 up to the Prescott shortcut to Ash Fork? I will probably tow at only 55 because this is the first real trip. Is that too slow for you?

It seems that there are several campgrounds in Seligman. Which one do you have in mind and must I make reservations?

I'm planning on going thru Wickenburg and up 89 to Ash Fork. I'll be staying at a free campground about 5 miles (I think) east of Seligman.

Lee,

That seems like a longer, steeper, and more twisty route than 101 to I-17 to 89, picking up 89 at Cordes Lakes. I know this route and find it quite easy and smooth.

Do you know the name of the campground, Eddie? Ashfork Campground? Hillside RV Park? Or, some other?

It is not really a camp ground. We call it Old Route 66 camp ground but it is where the town of Seligman have there annual fish fry. Just a clearing with a fire place. You can see the pictures of the previous runs we did on my web site.

Mike when you are heading towards Seligman on I-40 you get off at Crookton rd which is Route 66 travel 7 miles and just before going up a semi steep grade you turn right on a dirt road and that is where the camp ground is. Usually everyone heads into town and hangs out for awhile. Usually by the Snow Cap on the east side of town.

GPS exact location to the Old Route 66 campground:

Postby sdtripper2 » Wed Apr 20, 2011 8:37 pm

Mike & all concerned ~ 8)

GPS exact location to the old campground:
N 35 16.718 W112 41.543

Here is a Google link ( http://tinyurl.com/4x6brn3 )to the exact GPS spot of the campsite location for a map.
You will note a Route 66 marked by (A) and a Green Arrow that points to the exact spot
where the campground is on the lower road below Route 66.

Note:
Click on the Satellite image to zoom in to see the relatively bare landscape of
the old campgrounds location with the two entrance road locations off Crookton Rd, to this
remote camping spot. The sandy spot in the middle of the two tree ringed
clearing circles are well defined, and were the group holes uP for campfire eves.

I was wondering if anyone is going to Seligman on Thursday. I'm just about ready so maybe I should just get on the road for a shakedown.
