patience grasshopper. saturday is not here yet. i am still working on hubby to take it down then.

all my buid clothes are ruined though. i have to throw away my red sweats and that blue jacket. ruined from the glue.

Eagle , I think the point we haven't mentioned much is that Foam doesn't Rot or delaminate ... That's what prompted this from the beginning ...

And it IS Thrifty !!! (as you've so aptly proven !!! ) ... even over the long haul ... :thumbsup:

The only Problem I've encountered so far is now I've got people who want me to make them one ... Folks who want to even give me a Cash deposit ...

But I really don't want to start a new business, being retired and all ... Hard enough to find room to make my own ... :roll:

Save those old clothes for the next build ... You know you want to ... Maybe a shower cap would help with the Hair thing... :thinking:

Just a WAG , I think your trailer will be < 500lbs. Saturday will tell ...

Vinegar will take glue out of the hair and will not harm the hair.... :oops:

And epoxy too if you get it soon enough... :lol:

I kept a bottle next to me after the first time... Still love it enough to consider making one for my car.

Old cheap shower cap works well too ... even if, like me, you don't have any hair left ... Keeps the Dome clean ... :lol:

yeah i am pretty rested. but still haven't worked on the tear. got another birthday tomorrow. one next week. have been trying to get some plants in pots and in the ground. trying to get somestuff done around the house.

we do have a weekend in may where we will be going to another tearjerkers place for more work on the tear then. hopefully will get something accomplished then.

question for the experts of this "covered foam" construction method.

would the strength be compromised by using some type of covering on the top and sides that woul d not be a "wrap". Like a thin aluminum, vinyl, or even 1/16" or 1/8" laminate finish wood.

I'm thinking this would be easier to glue to the foam but if the stength is mostly in the shell that becomes sorta one piece once all the glue is dried into the cloth, then the lanimate coating would not work as well.

Glued aluminum would not stayed glued for long. With the thermal expansion and contraction the joint would quickly be broken. And if you didn't have your aluminum sides screwed into something, you would lose it in the wind.

If you want to use aluminum, you are far better off building a wooden framed structure, and attaching the aluminum to that.

Thanks for the answer on the alum. I had not thought about that, but like alum siding on a house, I see what you mean.

any one have any idea about a wood laminate?
main question is does this take away the strenth provided by the "shell" or if it would still be as strong with the foam all glued together and a coating on the foam.

We know home siding expands and contracts, whether vinyl or Al ... But makes me wonder if the Al and vinyl do that at a similar rate (they both require a loose mounting on a house , so they can move ) ... Wood doesn't .. many found that out already ... but the foam might ??? More for testing ...

Vinyl expands and contracts a "lot" more than Al.
