Loading the TD and Tow Vehicle for "Big Trip"

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

We can't do without the porta potty  But the one thing I have learned the few times we have camped in a tear is that I ALWAYS overpack.
We did a trial run in our driveway for 2 nights. We set everything up. That gave me the peace of mind to go for it.
Another thing I learned is you can always correct as you go. And food isn't that much of an issue cuz there is usually a fast food place SOMEWHERE before you get to where you are going.
One thing I hadn't figured on from my trial run in the driveway was where and how do you dump the porta potty??? I asked the guy in the campsite next to us and he said, "Just open the sewer lid and dump it all in there". As easy as that sounds, I was having a mind fart and couldn't think of it. How easy it was!!! I will always ask and observe to learn things that might work better or be easier for ME to do!
All of the advise above is SO GOOD! Just remember, anything that comes up can be adjusted or corrected along the way! and... INFO is your best friend!!! and... Have fun, and take me next time!!! :)

OH, one more thing!!! BUNGIE CORDS (atleast rope or cord of some sort). I corded the tent to other stuff so it wouldn't blow away! I corded the trash can thingy to the tent leg so it wouldn't blow away! I went out and bought a few more bungie cords for other odds and ends!
OH, and extention cords if you will need them (another thing I had to run out and buy, but atleast I expected that, just didn't know the sizes I would need)!
See!!! I told you I over pack every trip!

8. SPARE TIRE - in car wrapped in plastic! really only place for it

Hi Jane,

I added one of these to the tongue of my trailer.

If your tire is small enough, it keeps the spare out of the trailer and the tow vehicle, it only takes about ten minutes to install, and its on sale...

I hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi jandmz - When I picked up my TD I was disappointed that the trailer man didn't put the spare on the holder I ordered.......said it would be fine
in car........it is a 15" tire. I don't know if he couldn't make it work with the tongue box on or if he didn't want to bother.....

It looks to me like the one from Harbor Freight would work fine. I am going to look into it.

It would make me happy and give my pup more play room in the back!

and my typing is straightened out. I always keep a gallon milk jug of water in my truck no matter where I am going. and its always handy on long trips.

it does not wiegh ditto and on the flour boards of a tow vehile comes in handy.

you might want to get a drink of water in the night and its handy inside a teardrop.

when camped at night your not going to want to go hunting up a store for water.

like I said there might be a time you in between towns and you are out on the boughten water. which is just a wast of good money.

find a tap and refill the milk jug and save a little dough.

Slow.

Yep, Slow - I know all about being in the middle of nowhere in good 'ol Wyo....... not hitting the road completely waterless! Always keep the usual
emergency gear in the Outback! Thanks, Jane

I double checked to make sure I had the right size tools to deal with the tire and spare incase of a flat (I figured the spare wouldn't do me any good if I didn't have the tools to put it on)! :?

VERY IMPORTANT!

You know the bag you put all of your personal toiletries in?

Whatever you do, do not leave it hanging in your bathroom at home!!!
