Little F***er striped the brake calipers and h-bar with levers, before he walked it to the dumpster ...

I couldnt find another ( special 27" to 700c ) caliper ... or another wheelset. So, its fixed and finished. ( ... for now. )

I pulled the wheelset from another bike, and the rack from yet anoter ... attempted to clr the fork.

Ta da ! My new winter commuter/ "pick-up truck" :

I went in, to ask said kid for the brakes. No dice. ( Not even for money. ) .. I did get acouple of pics of his current ride, that he was servicing .

He had it, set-up like this ALL winter ( Btw, thats how I work on my bikes, leaning against the repair stand. ) :

Just found out, that ^^^ is 26.1 lbs ...

The bike that donated the ( nicer ) wheel-set ... is also " back on the road ." ( with the wheels, I was going to use on the univega ... )





( 24lbs, with the genrator/dynamo & brooks safe-ty-chain. )


I like the look of the cx tires better, I might swap back ... ( its so much faster with the road tires ... I had to add weight/light and a bell. )



... or I might just get those, wood grain-look velocity deep-v's.

I've been curious for some time now, so I must ask.
Why no kick-stand?
New bike or something like yours that had personal time put into it, they don't have side stands anymore.
If it was my old diamondback freestyle from the 90's I'd understand propping it up on stuff or dropping it on the ground.
Is it just the weight on the road bikes or what?
(Great work BTW. I like the doner bike a lot.)

I used alu. der. hanger bolts, instead of the actual steel single speed chainring bolts. It didnt help that the "chain line" was not straight. the bottom bracket was too long, ( or longer/wider than the rear wheel was wide. ) sooo ... I was actually "sideloading" the bolts and chainring...
