Titebond over glass joints?:

I have bought a teardrop project that has already been started. the shell is complete minus the hatch. He has covered the top with canvas and urethane. I like the canvas, have enough to complete it but am wanting to go with titebonde and canvas instead of the urethane. My question. The sides are not covered yet. I was thinking of glassing the roof to sides with a 2 inch glass tape. right over the canvas aready on the top and to the bare sides. I was then going to titebond and canvas over the entire thing. Including a second layer over the top that aready has the one layer of canvas and urethane. Do you think the titebond will work fine over these different layers that i'm going to have?

Day', just thinking the T2 would be good over bare wood ,but not over urethane ( may not stick well) ... and certainly not as a overcoat ... just use paint for that ... If you've got canvas over the top , canvas over the edges works too .. Don't need Fiberglass and it keeps the same textural "look"... You can still do the sides with T2, just using it to adhere the canvas to the bare wood.. Not saturating the canvas... and when you transition from the roof to the sides , just use urethane for that and then over the canvas ..

Maybe a better job over the long haul if you do the whole thing in urethane , as it was started in ... tricky mixing materials ...

Sounds like good advice. Was thinking since the titebond is glue it would most likely stick to the urethane. I do like that the canvas can be seen through the urethane as I am planning some cloth
Accents added to the canvas and then covered same as the canvas. Thanks for the advise.

DC, it's always best to do a test sample First ... Don't believe me ... prove it to yourself ... It may work , or may not ... Test it first on scraps ... saves you Trouble down the road ...
I've gone against many proven principles , but always tested first ... that's when you see why they Are "proven principles " !!!
