I'm kicking around an idea for a shorter, lighter TD and I wonder if anyone can help me in my search for a fairly small pivoting castor wheel, similar to the open, metal cargo trailer that they made years ago. I think is was a Sears product and it clipped onto the back bumper and went where ever the car went, either forward or backward. The "Big Boys" I've contacted, won't sell to li'l ol'me. An 8 or 10 inch wheel would be fine for what I am looking for. Hmmm, could I call it the 1/8th Nelson?
:? ;) Roly, (See what happens when a sketch pad and pencil are near your TV chair?)

RE: Single Wheel

Postby mezmo » Mon May 09, 2011 10:31 pm

Hi Roly,

Here are a few things that may be useful:

http://www.singlewheel.com/

I had to edit as I found these after my initial post:

http://www.smarttrailers.com/

http://www.cruiserlift.com/swivelwheel.html

One of them would sell just the wheel/suspension
unit if I recall correctly from viewing them awhile
back.

I had to edit a second time as I just came across a
company that makes and sells just the suspension. 750lbs
capacity for $173.00:

http://www.doublehitch.com/

And if you go on Google Images and search for
"single wheel trailers" you'll pull up a lot of interesting
takes on single wheel trailers.

Good luck on the 1/8 Nelson or aka "Nelson 12.5"

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo
