+1 I use a regular road map and google if I am going somewhere I need more information.

I also vote for the DeLorme atlas&gazeteer state by state. Very detailed for back roads and off road.

Does anyone use AAA maps? My Indian Country AAA map (covers parts of NM, Ariz, Colo, Utah) is one of my favorites, but it looks to be out of print on Amazon.

If you read or listen to any of the Tony Hillerman books set on the Navajo Reservation in your travels, this is a must-have companion and is used by some of the characters in the books. It is a fairly detailed map.

Originally, one had to be a member of AAA to get a copy but they did began selling this particular map at national parks in the area covered by the map.

I don't know if AAA has other maps that address a specific area/region of the country rather than state by state.
