In-N-Out Burgers in Texas!!!

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Every area has a great local burger place, if you are willing to search it out. Much better than any Franchise. Around here it is at Copp's Frozen Custard. Buy locally, and enjoy the variety.

burgers

All we have is the big ones Sonic and Mcdees. Paper thin burger. I love a handmade one on a old griddle. Got a store here that dose that the stove is around 100 years old and you just can not get a flavor like that anywhere.

A cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz? I actually prefer it that way.

Agreed. I have several local "haunts" but Tommy's, McDonald's, and In and Out aren't among them. Generally if the sign says "char broiled" I'm good to go there.

You must have a stronger "constitution" than I have. There is a Tommy's just a few minutes away. I used to stop there as I like their French Fries and they served Pepsi (I'm not big on Coke) and then I'd go to Carl's Jr next door for the cheeseburger. Tommy's meat is fried and the chile and onions on the burgers are a bit too much (good going down, not so good coming back up for hours and hours).

They switched to Coke so I don't frequent them as much anymore.

Cheers,

Gus

Gus, I have nothing but Kroger's store brand soft drinks in my fridge. $3.99 a case, and they taste just fine, to me.

As for burgers, I have several that I really like. INO is one of them -- with grilled onions, of course.

Here in Dallas, there is a french fries rivalry between Snuffer's Coronary Fries and.....

Scotty P's Cardiac Fries.

I like them both. Either one could kill you. :o

CD

I have nothing against generic sodas(or generic anything as long as I "like" the generic), I just don't like Coke specifically. When were were kids we didn't have sodas at home (funding issues). As kids we'd gather up "deposit bottles" (3 cents per was real money, adjusted for inflation, back then), cash em in at the "liquor store", and buy whatever soda got you the "mostest" for the "leastest". RC Cola, Double Bubble Soda, Shasta, to name a few of the brands.

Cooked onions "go down" (and come up) much differently for me than raw onions. I like em both but raw onions combined with Tommy's chile are a "gut buster" for me.

For homemade French Frys (or home fries) I peel and slice or cube the potatos, put em in a bowl and add about 1 teaspoon or so oil for each potato, a bit of salt, mix them all and then put em on special Reynolds non stick foil and bake em at 400f till toasty. Pretty good and much healthier than fried. Top with chile w/o beans and some cheese and you have a nice snack. Just use a chile that is less greasy than Tommy's  .

I have had my INO burger "animal style." The 4X4 part is new to me. I gather that it is just a whole lot more burger?

I like GOOD eats, not ALL-you-can-eats.

But, animal style is very tasty.

I am a big fan of burgers of all types. I have eaten at I & O several times and I personally think they are overrated. While in Texas a week ago we tried Whataburger and were very pleased. Given a choice between the two we would go back to Whataburger before I & O.

In-N-Out wasn't the only burger place that opened in the Dallas area last week. The Heart Attack Grill opened in the West End. The Quadruple Bypass Burger has 8,000 calories. (There are "only" 704 in a Big Mac with cheese)
If you weigh over 350#, you eat free.

There was a commercial on TV the other day (I forget who.), but it was advertising a bed of lettuce, with a thick layer of hamburger meat, and 3 cheeses. I got so tickled. The person who would buy this is in denial. Just go ahead and order a real cheese burger and make up by cutting your calories on the other stuff you eat.

I probably won't have an IAO burger until next fall when the excitement has died down. There are just too many zealots down here (judging by the lines). I want to eat my burger the same day that I drive to restaurant to order it. I'm not willing to campout on the curb for it.

Double meat, double cheese, with grilled jalapenos...all the way, with fries and a Coke...Whatasized...thank you very much.

Then again, breakfast...number nine...bacon, egg, and double cheese...with tomatoes and grilled onions, medium coffee...at least three times a week.

Oh geez...or a B-O-B Ranchero, with chopped jalapenos cooked inside the scrambled egg.

They say there are 36864 ways to make a Whataburger. Add one more, because I like a ranchero scrambled egg on mine!!!

Ok...I can't stand it...I'll be back later.

Oh no, they're knocking my In-N-Out burger!! Now where else can you order a burger that is delivered with a ready-made smile. (true story, check out the next one you order).

Some years ago, In-N-Out gave away bumper stickers that said In-N-Out Burger. The kids kept cutting off the "B" and the "r", which changed the meaning completely. I thought it was funny, but they quit making them after that.

Once after driving across the Calif desert for hours, I came upon an In-N-Out and parked and went in. Folks were standing 2 wide, all the way to the door, so I left and walked over to the Carl's Jr. across the parking lot. Only one customer was in the place, and he soon left. I ordered my less-than-wonderful burger and told the manager how he could generate a whole lot of business. When he asked, how, I told him to put an In-N-Out sign on the roof! He smiled and said, "Yes I know".
8) :D ;)  Roly, happy that we have the double-double in So Calif!!
