Bob, when I made it for CNTL V I decided to leave out the Everclear and then people added their own (worked well--some people wanted the "virgin" version). I'll do that again. I served it warm in a coffee urn, which is the "still" Steve was referring to above.

I did exactly the same at the January shivaree. Makes a nice warm drink leaded or unleaded. If the summer gathering is warmer than usual I am thinking about "apple pie" ala model a splash of the drink and 2 scoops of ice cream in a blender

Wow, the Apple Pie at Shivaree was awesome, now you are thinking with Ice Cream...YOU ARE A GENIUS.

pbs appearance

Anyone care to join me for a TV taping on Thursday the 14th.

I am in hopes we can set up in mass in yet another TV station parking lot and announce to the locals "we have landed"

Here is the e mail..........

Bob,

Thanks for getting in touch with us! I’d like to invite you to join us in our studio here in Bloomington for our Thursday, July 14th taping of The Weekly Special. The timing should be perfect to educate our viewers about the weekend’s events and encourage folks to get out to McCormick’s creek to check out the Tearjerkers.

We tape the show in the early afternoon, around 1 p.m. The interview itself would be about four minutes or so and we’d have you back out again by about 2.

Let me know what you think of this idea, and we can talk more in detail and perhaps come up with a fun demonstration we could do, too!

Thanks!

Eric

Bob, count me in for Thursday.
The taping and interview will be a great way for people to see what's going on at the Park and get aquainted with our little campers as well as the event.

Thanks for your efforts. :applause:  :applause:

Reservations: McCormick's Creek

Postby shortgmanp » Sun May 22, 2011 5:18 pm

 I plan on making my reservations in the next couple of days, Just wanted to check and see if you know of anyone that has cancelled on the full loop. I would of already made plans, but was only checking the hoosier spring gathering thread. I never even looked at any other thread, ( Dumb Me )! Learned about it at the Versailles gathering. I have learned my lesson! Thanks Greg

Postby shortgmanp » Mon May 23, 2011 5:53 pm

Looking forward to seeing everyone. I booked site 147 today !!!! I will monitor the thread. I have one important question. What do I bring to the pot luck ? P.S. I really wished I could of gotten in the full ring, but by the looks of it, I can't beat the neighbors. :applause:

Might be a good time to repost this..........

The planning committee has expressed a concern that we could wind up with 120 variations of 4 cup salad for the pitch in dinner.

In the past we have tried to vary the menu a bit by listing who is bringing what.................

However this could easily become a logistics nightmare with a gathering of this size.

I did some quick math based on Kurts targets of 55 entrees 35 salads and 26 desserts and came to a rather neat idea.

If all the even numbered sites brought a main entree and we have 115 attendees thats 57+ entrees

if the odd folk divided up and the odd sites divisible by "3" brought dessert thats 19 and the other odd sites ( not divisable by 3) did the salad/sides type offerings (38)we are almose exactly on target.

If ya have your heart set on that one thing oh well! But we are trying real hard to make this the absolute best gathering ever.

147 is divisible by 3 so you would be a dessert !

Wow Scott, that puts it in a new perspective.

Table arrangement will be interesting. I know Bob was working on this and had some good ideas.

Looks like min of 6 tables for entrees, and 5 for side dishes, and 3-4 for desserts. (we'll need a "moving crew" for Friday and Sat. nights)

The arrangement of the tables need to be such that traffic jams are not a problem. (easy for me to say)

Hungry already

Postby shortgmanp » Tue May 24, 2011 4:26 pm

Man I am getting hungry already. I like Scotts idea. Seems like it will work pretty well. I must put in a request though. I had one of the best meatloafs I have ever ate at Versailles. I hope someone makes a good meatloaf.
