What is the coolest thing you ever built?

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Doug, I just went through your boat build thread the other day, found it after digging through the epoxy threads. Impressive and gorgeous just like your trailer builds.

About the coolest thing I've built is an Oak bar for a New Years party... and a couple other parties too. 8)

Well, so far it's been this:

But in a couple of weeks it might be this:

I built what was at the time the largest wooden rocking chair. The height was just over 18 feet tall. We used it for a parade float and then had a crane put it on the roof of our shop for advertising. I will try and find some pictures. It was back in the day of 35mm film.

Other than my teardrop, I got nothing :(

I did build a cabinet for my badge collection but it's not that great in quality. Now that I built my tear and learned some better skills, I may build a better one.

Wow Mark,

That looks like you could impersonate a police officer in all 50 states!

Funny thing is that's only about half my collection, the rest are stored in a shoe box :(

When my daughter was very young and the TeleTubbies were all the rage,
I converted a TeleTubbie soft toy to have a small LCD monitor in it.
This allowed her to watch the TeleTubbie Videos on her own personal screen.

It was the one and only of its kind !

I still have it in the workshop.

I may have a photo somewhere ?

..........

Here we go ....

Please don't give my boyz any ideas! #1 graduates 6-11 with a Mech Eng degree and #2 is on the same path. They might consider it a challange to better my bottle/rocket launcher given their now extensive (and expensive) educations.

#2 didn't build his MK 19 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_19_grenade_launcher ) but reports it worked well cutting down trees during his visit to Estonia last summer (at considerable government expense). He noted the HE (high explosive) rounds were considerably more effective than the practice rounds. :applause:

Cheers,

Gus

Being a Cabinetmaker I've built a lot of "cool" things over the years but the one I appreciate on a daily basis is my shop that I built in 1993-94.
Image

What is "Cool" for Jane and I (just installed them) is the 6 new doors I made from scratch for our home.
They are 1 3/8" solid Red Oak cope and stick raised panel passage doors. They really class up the small house compared to the hollow core photographed oak finished  doors the builder gave us.
Made some new linens too.
We plan on living here for the duration so we will enjoy them for a long time. :D Danny

Come on Cajunlady, you should be proud of your porch.

Speeking of stuff we've made, what ever happened to that decopage project...

I am proud of my little porch/deck but my building skills are, well, beginners. I am in awe of some of the masterpieces built on this forum.

My decopage table project met an untimely death early in the project. I have learned, finally, not to do a project in my driveway directly behind my vehicle. I put everything away that evening except the table, which I was going to let dry after one coat. Well, I forgot about it, backed up to leave for some reason and heard something crunch. I thought I had hit my husbands truck but it was my cute little table. I hadn't put the tiles on top yet, but I did have the pictures on the side. :(
