Thanks for the heads up Gage. I have sent Marti an e-mail. How does that set-up fair in the wind?

I bought the side tent for our Little Guy 5-wide. Yes, the price was high! I got it a little cheaper on Ebay from an Rv dealership somewhere out East for about a hundred bucks less than what Little Guy is selling them for now...they seem to have gone up a good hundred bucks in the last year! Anyhow, we needed something to keep the kids and dog in - the kids are young and we needed to keep an eye on them as well as just feel more secure keeping the teardrop's door open all night with access to them if needed. I should get this tent early next week. I figure that if I ever sell the tear for something bigger, the side tent will add a little a something for an easier sell...but who knows?

Do you recall or have a link to the eBay seller you bought the tent from? I'm having trouble biting off near $600 for a side tent, but want something that isn't a complete retro-fit for the application.

This was listed at the bottom of the ebay listing:
For more info call 1-724-962-4561 or visit us online at www.kerola.com Little Campers for Big Adventures!
and I believe the name seller went by was billyk3
His shipping was cheaper as was the price compared to directly from LG. I've noticed alot of places are out of these, I assume because camping season is upon us? Anyhow, good luck!

another alternative to side tent

Postby Blumie » Sat May 28, 2011 12:22 pm

We've found the REI Shade Alcove with wind walls extremely versatile around/beside our teardrop. Full walls for full privacy, half walls to block the open teardrop doors, walls off for just cover; room to change clothes, or to lay a solar shower bag on roof and shower alongside. When the shelter surrounds the teardrop, it also creates protected storage space on the teardrop roof and tongue for duffel bags, shoes, etc.http://www.tnttt.com/gallery/image.php?image_id=79258

I just got our awning rail yesterday and will install it with luck tomorrow. We have a rear tarp made for us by http://www.pahaque.com who also made I believe the LG side tent and the Camp Inn side tent and who can make up what ever you can dream up. I have visited their shop and seen the quality and quite frankly you get what you pay for.
I have ideas that will when, we have more experience with Compass Rose be incorporated in additional side and rear tarp designs.

We just got back from camping in PA. The wind was horrible and it was cold. I put up my side room tent from Little Guy and figured by the time I took it down it should be in shreds, tattered and torn. The wind gusts seemed 75-80 mph (we were on the edge of a large lake). It was so windy I kept the Silver Shadow hooked up to the car (just in case). The 10x10 side room stayed out in the rampaging wind from Thursday until Monday. I couldn't believe it, but it only got one very small pull type hole by one snap that snaps around the door of the camper. So for me, in this example, you get what you pay for! Paha Que tents have my undivided attention! Gravy that Little Guy got them to make a tent with a perfect fit for a teardrop!!!

I use the texsport suv tent and am an authorized dealer. PM me if interested and I can get a quote for having one shipped to you. It is 10 x 10 and 8 ft high and best thing is it does NOT have a vented ceiling so if you zip it shut it can be heated or air conditioned to match your camper.

We also put a space heater in our tent for warmth. I was sitting on a chair in the tent in around 30deg. temp in shorts a tee shirt and a pair of socks. I also put the fridge in there with the heater so the fridge would turn on, and it did!

Bought a shed in a box to work on the trailer over the winter so I'm ready for spring looking for DIY directions for a side tent or 2nd hand at a good price.
