Howdy,

I cruised Joplin's war zone and came away sad but impressed with the power of nature. I tried to find Merriams house by looking for a teardrop trailer; but to no avail. She was extremely lucky to say the least.

I felt very uncomfortable being seen by people picking through the rubble in search of some prized possessions while I was towing a self contained travel trailer and driving an air-conditioned car. To me, it was like eating an ice cream cone in front of a person dying of starvation.

I shot a few pics to warn my family. The pics will never be otherwise circulated since these would be of some one's misfortune and a superstition of mine to show these is that I would experience the same misfortune. The few pics that I took were to convince my son of maybe, just maybe some day to have a tornado cellar in Garland, TX. His attitude is when your number is up, it's up. I hope he never is in a situation where he regrets purchasing a wide screen TV instead of a tornado cellar. If he would have a wide screen in his tornado cellar, this would be top shelf.

On my way home at the end of my freshman year in college, I missed a tornado by one hour. This tornado in late May that killed 26 people would have followed me right down Hwy. 29 through Cadott, WI. This one was a summer breeze compared to the E5 of Joplin.

I will never complain about guardian angel feathers or angel hair messing up my car again. Deus esta el co-piloto!

God Bless Merriam and her family for surviving.

Take care,
Maury
