Very interesting ideas. How much does the bike weigh? Can you support the load unbalanced a bit to the right side like this?

The bike is only a 250cc so it weighs just under 300 lbs. I am more looking for a way to transport the bike locally if needed but I suppose it could be a longer distance traveller with bike too.

I am running into a height calculation error on my part. At some point in the build I bumped up the main ceiling height by 3/4". Now I have done a dry run of wheeling the trailer out of the garage and it just barely clears without the pop top on. My measurments now allow for me to have only 1-1/8" total for top thickness! Now I am not making a very big top. It will only be 48" wide by 64". I really needed that 3/4" So I am left with needing to make a change of plan one way or another.

One option is to attempt to make a 1" thick hatch with a bare minimum lip on the main roof as my rain ledge.

Option two is to take a circular saw and remove material around the entire trailer. The tricky part there is I have the forward ceiling panel glued and screwed in place. There are cross members in the middle that would need to be reduced in height as well.

Option three is to remove height from only the rear portion of the trailer so the pop top when lowered is at the height of the forward existing roof line. This would present me with problems making a rain seal by the hinge area.

Any thoughts?

Deflate the tires to get it in and out of the garage or take em off entirely and use casters to move the trailer in and out.

The opinions in this post are my own. My comments are directed to those that might like an alternative approach to those already espoused. There is the right way,the wrong way,the USMC way, your way, my way, and the highway.

I think simply deflating the tires would be all that was required, but what a pain in the butt that is. Still I could get a little electric tire inflator and it would have the added benefit of making me have proper tire pressure each time I took it out.

Probably when it is all finished and painted it will be more charming. It looks a lot like a horse trailer really.

Here was my original plan for the pop top. It was only going to require 1.75" or so as it was. Pretty low profile.

Nice work on your trailer so far. I guess the function would dictate some what the looks of the trailer. Lots of good ideas there. About the height I have the same problem with my garage the builder made it for I think 2 Honda Accords. In order to get a full size truck in there I need to lower the floor and add on 5 feet to the front. That idea has been rollin around in my head for a lot of years now. Good luck on your build.

The way the nose is shaped I am really going to have to fight off the urge to paint a "Flying Tigers" shark mouth on it! :)

You never know...it may just settle down a bit once you get it all built/ loaded and a few miles on it, so the 3/4" might not be an issue. I have to either run my 14's down to 5psi for a 1/2" clearance...or swap wheels, which is what I do. I've got some 8"s on a utility trailer that I use. Older Low-liners came with 2 sets of wheels so that they could go into the garage. A hassle...yup, but I have a system, and can swap them out really fast. Nice build! Doug

Yes I had not thought of the increased weight as the build goes compressing the springs. Some nice thoughts there thanks. I think I will proceed in the fashion I planned and the worst case scenario is I deflate the tires, or swap them out as you have done. Thanks for that.
