Frame Rail Insulation?

Does anyone feel that there is any advantage to fulling the frame rails with expanding foam insulation? Or will the cold/heat just transfer around the steel and through the floor?

I don't think you'd get any insulating quality since the steel would just conduct it around the foam. It might add some quieting to the frame if that were a problem, I've used it in the posts of a car to quiet the interior. I think one of the truck manufacturers is advertising a foam in their trucks, for sound but not for insulation.

Won’t insulate a thing! If moisture gets in there it will rust out your frame fast real fast!

Just a thought. I thought that the expanding foam could help seal out any moisture, but I guess you can't fill it tight enough to keep moisture out.

Atmospheric conditions with heating, cooling, high pressure low pressure, will pull moisture in between the steel and the foam. Then the foam will trap it there until the steel rusts through to let the outside air dry it out.
