Old frame...can't find serial number

Postby Woodstramp » Tue May 31, 2011 11:11 am

Got another old camper frame that is sound and would like you use it on another project in the future....can't find a serial number. Is there a common location where serials are stamped on the frame? Thanks.

On my old trailer frame, the serial number was on a decal -- not stamped into the steel. I photographed it, then sanded it off and painted over it.

It is possible that your frame had a serial number decal or plate that is now gone.

Clean it up and fix it up and call it a homemade trailer if you cant find it.

Seems like the serial number on the old pop-up I used to have was on a sticker on the inside of the door, never checked to see if there was also a number on the frame or not.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Do you have a picture of the camper or the make and model or is it just a frame that is already stripped? Jayco had a decal on the square part of the frame left front corner on the outside frame rail. Depends on the make and a lot of them were only silver decals that are long gone or if stamped were filled with paint years ago. Good luck Bill

Why do you guys need a serial # on an old trailer??? Would'nt that just be used for the original use? What happens if you don't have it...does that mean you can't use the frame?
:?

Some locations require chain of ownership. VIN/serial numbers make the process easy...
