Anyone Tow with a Kia Soul?

Postby gassman » Wed Jun 01, 2011 4:25 pm

What are your thoughts; pics; comments?
We tow with a Liberty now, but, the cost of fuel is killing me; our Wrangler had the same issue. If it will pull our Cubby and get great fuel mileage the rest of the time we're sold. One reason we are considering the Kia Soul is the ease it would carry my wheelchair.

WOW!

According to etrailer.com:

Towing Capacity:
200 Pound Tongue Weight
2000 Pound Towing

That's 500lbs more towing capability than my Suzuki Vitara. U-Haul has hitches for $170 or so. I'd say if your trailer fits in to the weight specs, you're in business!

Howdy,

Hey, 3822 Sean! Can the guy who tows with a Prius stop what he tows?

I will bet that he can really recharge the hybrid's batteries going down a long, steep, mountain grade. I can see it all now, white knuckles, wifey screaming stoooop, red-orange brake rotors and drums, and the headlights getting brighter and brighter before he tries scrubbing off speed on the guard rail! Just like in the movies! LOL!

I even hear horror stories about guys towing fifth wheels with Diesel powered pickups equipped with Allison transmissons running out of brake capacity on long mountain grades! Maybe a Jacob Brake, Jake Brake, would have helped.

Again, trust the owner's manual and not some "trailer sales outfit" or some one's "expertise" to be the deciding factor as to what can be handled safely.

If someone wants to kill himself by going on the cheap, that's ok with me. Just don't take me with you to the other side.

Take care,
Maury

I'm one to follow the Mfg. recomdations; a lot of those horror stories are based in fact. Please let us know what the manual says. It would be very much appreciated!
