WOOHOO! I'm going camping. :) You all be safe on your way and I'm looking forward to seeing you all again. I've been asked about the turnoff to the lake from Highway 75 so here is a photo of Coffee County Honda. It's ATV's not cars.
Image
The sign for the turn off is typical of parks in this region, 8 by 10 inches and placed 10 yards before the exit. Just look for the Honda dealer and to the north of it is a Casey's General Store. Darren

Well, another gathering is in the books. What a great turnout, food and fun!!! The weather was hot as hell but the breeze made it alright, as we had plenty of shade to sit under. I caught one Channel Catfish and lost, it seems, half of my fishing tackle to all the brush and logs in the river but oh well.

The only "casualty" was Donna Neely. She sprained her right ankle Saturday afternoon during her skydiving excursion......... Yes, I said skydiving!! Several of the group drove to Osage City and tempted death jumping out of an airplane.

Skydiving, home brew, good food, fishing, swap meet, glass melting........ we had it all. Thanks Darren for setting this up and doing the leg work finding this campground.

We made it home OK. A grueling drive but not much traffic at least.

I'm home also and I must say that highways in Johnson county, KS are atrocious! Thanks all for making this weekend a totally pleasureable event. It was great to see old friends and make some new ones. A word of caution, if'n y'all keep cooking like ya did for the potluck, you're gonna make me fat! Thanks to Darren for another memorable outing.

Thanks for a memorable weekend

While not part of you guy's group, we were lucky enough to be there with you guys this weekend, and you all made it a LOT of fun. Many thanks to Darren, Mark, and Ginger for introducing themselves to us, inviting us to come take part in your potluck, and showing us the things of beauty that you guys have created. It's definately given us some food for thought for possibly building a small trailer of our own! We enjoyed ourselves greatly!

Donna told us we would need to post the lyrics to the song we played for her and Kathy. With our apologies to Bobby Mcfarren, here they are. Best when performed with harmonica and ukulele.

Harmonica intro

Here's a little song we wrote
You might want to learn it note for note
Don't worry, be happy
In every life you gotta grab some fun
You'll be happy when it's done
Don't worry, be happy

Harmonica chorus

So you want to jump out of a plane
All your friends think you're insane
Don't worry, be happy
When you jump we've always found
You'll end up back on the ground
Don't worry, be happy

Harmonica chorus

Here's a little song we wrote
You might want to learn it note for note
Don't worry, be happy
And now you're back on the ground
Everybody's safe and sound
Don't worry, be happy

Harmonica outro

Don't worry, be happy!

Sorry about you ankle Donna but proud that you and Kathy stepped up...and out!

A great gathering. Little on the warm side but the shade and breeze made it bearable. I really like the layout of JRR.

Start thinking about next year. :) We can go back to JRR or move to Big Hill.

Thanks again to everyone that came out. :applause:
