Whats missing from teardrop camping????

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby Juneaudave » Fri Jun 10, 2011 6:27 pm

I miss all the packing and prep work and big deal that goes with camping...

I enjoy the simple note scrawled on be back of an envelope on the kitchen counter when I get in from work that reads:

Dave..JoJo and I got Auke Recreation Campsite #11 for Fr Sa Sun. I have a couple errands to run. Get your pillow if you are staying. I have the Teardrop packed (flashlights and blankets) Call my cell when you get in. I have a metal spatula. Love Marcia

Now...where are those marshmellows?

Another thing missing in my trailer, is me.
Vacations have been canceled at work till further notice because we are now short 2 people.
One guy is out waiting for hip surgery (he's only 35)
And the assistant manager in our department quit.

About the only thing I miss is my Lazy Boy to sleep in.

I need my Lazy Boy inside. It is the most comfortable sleeping I have had in decades. These old bones don't like to completely straighten out these days. I can still fold up to get inside. Just don't watch me get off the ground.

I do not have a Td, but had a casita, so I got to post by I didn't get a TD, well I guess the big thing was no bathroom, did not like seating on something who knows what used, or showing and then put my closes back on and walk back to my bed, not cooking and eating with bugs....alot of TD don't have air.... I had a change at a T@B with a bathroom and did not get it and I'm sorry I did not get it..... I'm saving to get a 13 ft casita now, I also missed a TD here on the forum that open from the rear and I wish I could had get it.... Looking for another one

At one time I wanted to upgrade to a T@B or simular 13 footer, but as gas prices have gone up I decided to stay with what I got. It's paid for.

Whats missing....

The fact that somebody decided to clean their fish (leave the guts) in the only level spot in whole camp to put tent..

The fact previous occupants decided to move picnic table to only level spot in camp to put tent...

The previous occupants decided to move fire pit to only level spot.... oh well you get idea...

Getting to camp and finding you only 5 tent peg and there should be 6..

Getting tent almost setup and finding when tent came back from loaning it to friend one pole is missing (semi rigid support tent)..

guy at work has a fifth wheel camper, looked into going up to Bar Harbor, ME area $900 for five nights, you could get a hotel for that and not have to drag it there and back. His buddy has a fifth wheel also his truck gets 6 MPG while towing! My car gets 28-30 with my a little to tall TD, the guy I work with gets 16 towing or not with diesel. (he has an hour drive to work like me)`
My TD is my bed two nights a week at work, it really isn't any different than the free room I had for years.

Oh the guy at work is heading way up into NH mountains instead, $90/night for full hookups.

The big trailers that make sense around here are the ones that spend the season at campgrounds along the beaches. My dad got a small house on 1/8 acre along York Beach, ME for 89K back in '95, last valuation was for 360K , a couple grand a season for a camper site, and a twice a season U-haul rental to drag the RV to and from the campground is the only way I could afford anything similar. Of course that would be the only place I would go all year, the TD will let us head plenty of other places.

The only thing I missed last year, was more vacation days. For the rest, I have all I wanted build in or put outside. Even a Porta Potti.
