I've gone over to the dark side

I'm not sure if I'm bragging or not, I suppose I am :) I am typing this post from my new Apple iPad
:applause:
I had a good long look at the competition and finally decided there isn't credible opposition yet and I'm tired of waiting so a short trip to the store later here we are, hook line and sinker.

Thanks :)

I grew up in South Africa and so knew nothing about Apple computers until I emigrated to New Zealand in 1997. The first Mac I saw had me totally confused I spent about 20 minutes trying to find the on switch, much to the amusement of the students who were all watching! :o

If you need a good reason WHY you might need an IPAD...

Since teardrops and TTT are so small, we have to conserve space with the smallest of computers!!!

:D

One of the major reasons I needed it was for the excellent calendar and easy email and Internet access. I've just spent the last hour transferring all my appointments and upcoming events and functions into the calendar and I'm now exhausted... In anticipation.

As a reasonably little chap myself I've always had a great respect for the small efficient things in life, like teardrops, small cars and computers.
I'm already wondering how I ever got along without it?

My first foray into computers was at a suggestion from a friend who got me a DOS box. I sat there looking at the blinking cursor wondering how I would ever record music on the thing....

Then another friend hooked me up with a Mac. I too had the head scratching looking for the keyboard power button. When it booted up, I could explore unlike the other box. (Yes this was WAY back). I went to the help menu and started reading, I read alphabetically from A-Z over and over and referred back to it when I had questions and soon, I had taught myself about computers and in a couple of years I was working at Apple doing tech support.

The two words used most to describe Apple (Not including haters) is Intuitive and elegant. "Elegant" is actually not to be taken visually, it is a computer programmers term used to describe how clean the programming language is.

Don't get me started.... congrats on your new purchase!

Thanks :D

I had a suspicion that appleholism might be a risk of my purchase and I was not worried in vain :applause:

The more I use my iPad the more I find it is totally suited to what I want to do and the way I like to do it.

Next thing I'll be squirreling away my cash so I can get an iPhone 6 or whatever's just been released :beautiful:

Some people become Appleholics, and others don't.

since everyone in my profession uses Macs, I kind of had to go that way, but I love my Apple products, which now include a 27-inch iMac, a MacBook, and iPad and an iPhone.

I have a MobileMe account, so my email, calendar, and address book sync on all my devices, automatically. The best part of that, for me, is that I can send, receive or reply to an email from any of my devices, and whatever I do will automatically show up on the other devices.

See I could care less about the icrap. But I do love that my macbook is still serviceable after 5 years of hard use. Never had a PC last that long.

Still have my C64 and my Atari 800Xl and65XE machines - I fire them up occasionally to relive the 'old days'. Ah yes, those heady days when "Nobody needed more than 64K!" according to a young Bubba Gates........

I am, always have been, and probably always will be, a PC kind of guy. However, I am saving for an iPad. They are cool as all get out, and make a great ebook reader.
God Bless

"Dude, I bought a Dell!"

Just completed my periodic B/U of all documents and pictures - four DVD's worth total.
I have had total crashes before, and make sure I do this before getting too far behind.
I never felt the need to go MAC. If I were heavily into graphics and such, I likely would.

My home PC gives me compatibility with our Dells at work - I am the Office Property Custodian, and we are changing out the older machines for new GX780s. Our Department of Education deals mostly with Dell for PC needs. Not the 'best', but that was a decision way above my paygrade!

I don't even have a decent cell phone yet - just a cheapo little Nokia on a 'pay as you go' plan. Have been looking at the majorplayers for a full service deal, just haven't justified it to myself yet. My only use for portable comms is for road emergencies - only ONE buddy has my cell number, and we only use it during hunting season, when we are in our tree stands.
Iam woefully "old school"......
