Make the groves in the top twice as deep as the bottom. and the panel the size of the opening + the depth of the bottom groves. Well maybe a tiny bit less just to be sure they work. But I bet you already figured this out.



I have some 1/2 inch foam that would make nice doors.

i haven't figured that out. as a matter of fact, i don't know what you mean. remember i have never built anything, so all of this stuff is totally new to me.

there will be no more kicking! it only happened on that first trip, and only for a while. when i realized he would not stop the kicking i had him out of there and down on the floor bed part. no more kicking. the bunk bed might work good for the smaller ones though. but i don't see them coming along on any trip soon. if one does, i can always just slide one door over and put her in there.

A picture is worth a 1000 words.

The top slot is cut deeper so that the door will slide up and into the slot and then drop down to the lower slot and still not fall out. The door on the left is in it's resting place. The door on the right is in the installation phase.

Well, I am convinced! I was going to make a generic benroy, but wanted insulation, as I live in the Great White North...now I can have both, at a much lighter weight than the original gb. I have the interest of my landlady, and my girlfriend. I have the axle, and some iron ready to make the trailer frame. If I play my cards right, I can have them do the work....not really

You know , if you needed a LOT of Insulation , you could double up the foam to 4" ... Probably keep it warm with just body heat ...

I already have the axle with the spring at 5 ft and the hub face at 70 inches, so I was looking to do a 1 1/2 inch with 1/8 luan inner, and canvas and glue outter. I was wanting a queen bed and galley in the back. The only questions are four or five feet high and 8 or 9 ft long. Yes, they surely can help. And at least one of them is excited to help.

I am thinking that I would do the 1.5 inch roof as well. Should I do a 2 inch for the strength? Would I need spars? I saw that GPW was showing a 6 ft wide weekender type. Did it include spars? So many questions....So many options... so exciting

Since there are no "rules" to building a foamie , just use what you think is Best for your situation ... Spars are good ... but not absolutely necessary ...Mine doesn't have any , just a 2" roof strengthened by the design of the shell ...
5' tall is Nice if you need a little extra room, easy to do either way ... Wide is good too... I wish I'd made mine wider ... My second one will be ... The paneling on the inside will make the structure very STRONG!!! We'll be here to help if you have any questions or problems ... and Please send pics of your progress... We Love the pics ...
