Now if my Ben Franklin tree would grow, it would be nice to play with some big blocks of foam and some 4" thick stuff... Starts to get Pricy , but not unreasonable ...

I notice some of the Oil related industries which abound here , use Huge blocks of foam , and discard them later .. a possibility to do a bit of "salvage" ... Have to take a ride up and down the local Industrial corridor ...

So wonderful to see the diversity of the designs for Foamies ... Everybody seems to have a different idea of what a Foamie can be ... 8)

Me too... I've just got to take a trip to the Big wholesale insulation company across the river... They have Everything , and HUGE blocks of white Blue and brown (urethane) foams (Foamie Heaven).. They do a lot of business with the oil businesses here.. insulating pipes and coolers , Big jobs... so I really have to get my BS story and pics together , so as to plead my case for them to sell me such a small amount ...

While driving around , passed by "Oil patch alley" , saw some big beaded foam blocks ... about6'X6'X6' , pretty rough shape , holes in the middle for ropes ... Looks like they were used for flotation ... just too worn out gouged dented etc. to be useful .... :(

Lots of times you can go to auto trim shops that install bedliners for trucks and the have a HUGE boxes that they are willing to give away - also the same is true for furniture stores

Here ya go ... Image

Checking the pics , you can see my 'extra space in the back .... Two options :
1. Relocate the axle rearward and move the cabin back ...
2. Cut off the extra and weld the cross member in the correct location ..

I immediately thought the rear space would be a good place to carry things , but I don't want to add weight that far back ...might tow "funny" !!! :o

Image

Maybe just get a HF trailer for this cabin and save this trailer for a Bigger Foamie (FoamStream) ??? 12' + would easily fit this boat trailer ...

GPW,

Looks good. I puzzled through all sorts of possible locations for my cabin on the trailer. Measured maybe 50 times. In the end, I am happy with the way it worked out for me. I have found, in practice, that I like the shelf all around as a place to set things up off the ground while camping. My tongue shelf makes a great place to set up my stove when no table is available. I am sure that whatever your solution, it will work out.

Eagle , if I move it back (relocating the axle and fenders , so I can open the door) ... That would work ... pre drilled attachment holes make this relatively easy ... Long tongue left just begs for a storage box ...

I could add another cross member to better secure the rear of the cab and keep the rear shelf ( with a plywood top ) as a place to sit or cook ? Or maybe a bicycle rack, or both ? ... Gotta' have my bicycle !!!
