Doors Framed and Hatch built Pics

We now have our doors framed in and we have built the hatch. I was surprised but the hatch didn't spring at all, thanks to you fellows instructions. I didn't take pictures of the skin on the hatch yet but I will take some and post them. Here is what the hatch looks like before the skin and you can see the door framed in.

Fellows, thanks for all the wonderful comments. I am dead serious when I say that it hadn't been for all the great information from the very helpful and friendly folks on this forum, I would have still been scratching my head on a bunch of things. Gage, you are right, my worry was in vain, it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. We hope to have the aluminum on next week, Lord willing.

But the springback you're talking about is after you put the hatch skin on, which I didn't see there.

Judging by that construction though, you ain't got nothing to worry about.

Ira, when I made the post, the skin was already on. We put the skin on after we took the pictures and it was late so we didn't take anymore pictures. We built the hatch using 1/4 inch spacers between the outside ribs and the hatch walls like Jack did. We used 3 inch screws through the hatch walls into the 1/4 inch spacers and into ribs while we built the rest of the hatch in place. We stapled the 1/8 inch Baltic Birch skin to the ribs and then put screws 4 or 5 inches on center into all the ribs. We used the Gorilla glue also. Our top and bottom spar is made out of 8/4 X 2" ash. I am probably driving some of you fellers nuts the way we are over building, but I was bad to over build in my career in homes and woodworking and it is a hard habit to break.

Kevin, we sure appreciate the invite but I don't think my ole bones could handle a trip quite that far. We sure would love to though. We can't wait to meet some of our fellow tear builders.
