It's been a while Dan.... but great to see you turn your hand to woodwork
Are you aiming to get the bed made up for Elveston ?

We're hoping to be going to to Elveston Via Towcester ....It would be cool to hook up on route if you know somewhere (Services ?) where we can meet up.

Looks better than I can do. It is frame work right? It gets covered with a padded seat cover (I am guessing) and some kind of access door anyway.

As far as the insulation, both noise and heat transfer will be greatly improved. I think you will be pleasantly suprised.

cheers del

fit out

Postby dandan » Sat Jun 25, 2011 5:18 pm

hi Del.
hope you are well.
there are a couple of bits i need to add cos i've got no wood
Bet that means a whole different thing state side

going to close the front of the locker & have a lift-off lid as there is no where for a hinged one to go.
have used 2X2 because the lateral floor beams are not under the base.
hopefully it will be somewhere to sit & take your shoes off if its a bit ganky outside.
your view on the insulation is a welcome relief. :worship:
when dossing in it last year, t'was like being in a desert.
(hot in the day & brass-monkeys at night)

need to get it right 'cos it's going to be the sleeping quarters for the wife & daughter.
(i will be in my old NATO sack under the awning)

best rgds
dan.

play time

Postby dandan » Mon Jun 27, 2011 12:58 pm

Hello again.
Trust you are all well.

Had a bit of playtime today on my daughter's bike.
She is only 2 years old & its a shame for it be left standing while she grows big
enough for it.
Image

Anyway
3 hours in 30C heat (about 90F in old money me thinks) in the shade.
Thats a bit wem for over here :o
Got the front locker carcus finished & the front blanked in.
Then made the ali lid & side pieces.
Image
still got to fit the hinges & fix the side pieces down.
Decided on doing a raised rear bed to the same height.
It will provide seating for 4 or at least somewhere to cook in cruddy weather.
Also loads more storage space under the bed too !

Have ordered a 12v car radiator fan 12" in diameter to fit in the roof vent.
This will allow air extraction of forced airflow inward.

Will post more piccies tomorrow.

Best rgds
Dan.

:applause:  Don't forget to hinge the lid for the bed so you can use the space. Looks great from here! Cute lil girl for sure!

Stunning, is the only way to describe it.
I've just spent ages reading the entire thread and to be honest, having read a lot of kit car build and classic rebuild threads that this is pretty much at the top of the tree!.
Keep them pics coming

Thanks for staying interested in this thread which seems to be
lingering on a bit now.

Apologies....... :o
things have been a bit busy lately.......
(no reason for neglecting the forum but its been chaos here)

have been faffing with the interior & got this.
to fan it up a bit, "its basic !"

Image

& looking forward......
Image

the battery is in the forward compartment.
really wanted it over the rear of the axle but most of the lecky is at the pointy end.

told you my wood-butchureing skills are limited didn't i ?

anyway, its now got a 16"television for the wiff, some "daddy-juice" as
my daughter calls it (needs topping up now & again like the car) & still
loads more refining to do.

But now after 3 years & 8 months its finally fit for child & wiff to doss in
me, well i'm kipping in the awning

reckon the fit-out has let it down a bit so far.
it's not finished by a long-shot but we are off to the New Forest tomorrow
& i was still cutting lumps of wood for it today.
(usual last minute panics !)

Hope to make the Ssshhh get together in Chepstow in a couple of weeks.

best rgds
dan.

I am the ultimate occasional lurker and among all the fantastic teardrops on this site,
I always check for any progress on the 'Roswell' ...
I'm rather confident that there are many more besides who are also eagerly waiting for
an update or two :)
