Wheels

Postby RN » Mon Jun 13, 2011 10:09 pm

I have measured current wheels are 13" and measure 5 lugs on 4.5". I am wanting to find a 14" rim that is preferably not one of the wheels normally found at places such as Tractor supply. Maybe someone can better inform me if a chevrolet, ford, or dodge rim fits this bolt pattern. I am wanting to sandblast them and powder coat them to match the tear frame them fit the wheel with smoothie hubs. Thank you.

RN here is a site that list a reference of what sizes and bolt patterns came on what vehicles. You can use this to try and find you some wheels, unless you want brand new then check summit racing they have old style steel wheels that take the old style hub caps but they are not cheap. Also do a bing search of 14 5x4.5 whhels and look at what all it brings up.

http://tnttt.com/viewto ... =2244#2244 for much of the info you are looking for...keep in mind, you must match not just the lug pattern but also the pilot hole in the center(where the hub sticks thru)...also be aware the offset of the wheel must be such that it fits both the hub and clears the trailer body...........

What I've done is take a tape measure and a hub with me to a U-pull it type place, that way you know it fits the hub and you can measure back spacing. Oh ya, I'd take a 4 way lug wrench and a cheater pipe too. A trick I picked up is to find a loose wheel and jam it under the tire to keep it from spinning when breaking lug nuts loose.

How about these...

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/ ... _200303842

Nothing against Tractor Supply (I really like them) but some of their resources is "limited"....

Or if you can not find a wheel at any retail sales or local auto recycler... You may consider having custom wheels made....

Any diameter, width, lug spacing and offset....

While you can find plenty of older wheels to do the job....think about whether or not you want a hub cap on it in the future. I got an older set of Mopar wheels that fit, but alas...no caps will fit. Wheel covers are available, but not the look I wanted. Moon re-pops are only available in a couple of sizes....not mine however. Doug
