12 inch trim rings

Postby Aaron Coffee » Fri Jul 01, 2011 8:59 pm

Just found these and wondered if anyone has used them on 12 trailer rims.

Decided to be the guinea pig and ordered a set, will report when I get them.

Are you trying these on a Harbour Freight wheel by chance? I found a link that had caps to cover the spindle on a 12" wheel. I need to locate it but if the trim rings and caps work and new style lug nuts were installed the wheel might look good.

Yes harbor frieght type wheels, hubcap mike also lists a baby moon type habcap for 12 wheels but it requires spring clips on the wheels. My plan is trim ring, chrome lug nuts, and chrome axle caps, then painting the hub black or matching the wheel color.

Thanks Aaron that sounds like a good plan. I have the same thing going with a HF trailer. Mine is the larger 12" wheel with the 5 lug pattern. I will watch this thread and see how you come out. Thanks!

Got them today!!!!!

Found a small ding in each one and the chrome is kind of wavy in a spot, made in China, the tabs stick out beyond the ring, so I had to bend each one to get it to fit, got one on and will take it off and tweak it some more.
Here is the trim ring on the wheel, haven't got the crhome grease cap yet as I still am going to pull the hubs and repack the bearings.

And I just had to set the fender up there.

Looks good Aaron. It really disguises the HF wheel. Mine is the 5 hole wheel. Do you think the rings will still fit? Now that you have them are you happy with the way they worked out?

I assume that they would fit with the above mentioned modifications. I am over all happy with them, so far. On the other side I cut the tabs off of a 13 inch trim ring I had laying around and pop riveted it on the 12 inch trim ring, still need to do some tweeking in it.

The tires and wheels are just 12 inch trailer tires and wheels. I thnik the tires are 4.80 x 12. I bought mine at Macs Hardware, have also seen them at Tractor Supply, Bomgaars, Menards, Harbor Freight and at some WalMarts. The whitewalls are actually portawalls I got here
http://www.lucasclassictires.com/PORTAWALL_GUIDELINES.html
The tires and wheels cost around $50 each then another $50 for the portawalls.
Thanks
