Shasta 1400 (1971)

Postby niftuk » Mon Jul 04, 2011 12:34 pm

Hi everyone,
I just joined this forum and was told to try posting here for my Shasta 1400 (even though its not a teardrop). I'm trying to sell mine so I can get a teardrop, this Shasta is just a little too large for me.

Perfect for anyone that has a little time to put some work into her, though she has been used as is.
I got her with the intention of completely finishing her, but over estimated my free time with school and work. This camper deserves more attention than I can give.
In January I got a new 3500lbs Dexter axle to replace the old drop axle so the camper sits about 5-1/2in higher than it used to, which makes towing much more comfortable. The added height really made a HUGE difference, its much smoother. As a girl new to campers - towing terrified me until after the new axle was installed.
It now has new custom attached leaf springs (the old attachments were no longer useable)
brand new 15 in tires and the bearings have been greased and packed!
The roof refrigerator vent is new - the old one was cracked.
The outside 110 incoming plug has been updated, as have the two outside outlets.
A new tongue-jack has been installed.
The propane lines have been replaced and are all new.
The running lights aren't currently working due to a ground somewhere (I haven't looked for it) but I have magnetic trailer lights that can go with it until that is found.
There are a bunch of spare parts and sealant, etc. to go with the camper since I got it all with the intention of working on it, but really don't have time - also shown in the pictures. The box (not shown, has more brushes, scrubbers, screws and a thing to mix the sealant.
There is a large closet that was going to be made into a shower/toilet, but can remain a closet since nothing has been permanently changed.
Outer skin has barely any "love bumps" or damage.
Some water damage on the ceiling where the vent is (replacement vent goes with the camper) and is shown in the picture below.
The furnace was removed due to it being a fire hazard - it was the original, but now there is a space more storage or a potential AC unit!

Please note, while this shasta was advertised as sleeping 6, I wouldn't recommend having two children in the upper drop down bunk (found above the couch and table). Easily it could sleep 4 since the table drops down to make a bed that can sleep 2, and the couch pulls out to make another bed that is a bit wider than the table/bed area. The top bunk would be much better for storage, I think, which is what I've seen it used for in many shastas.

If you are sure you want this camper, we can negotiate delivery/delivery price or you can come pick it up. I am willing to deliver to certain states depending on my school/time limitations. However, please be COMPLETELY sure since I don't want to end up driving there for no reason. However, IF something comes up and you do not take the camper, I will not be able to refund the delivery payment for my time and of course, gas money - unless I have not left yet. Please email me for specifics.[/img]

You have one here in VA beach!!?? I thought none existed over here, I've never even heard of one being in the area! I may just have to see if I can come check it out! Thank you for the invitation!

The Shasta, I'm hoping will go for $4300, but I think that may be a little difficult with this economy. I'm trying to JUST get what went into it. The new axle was pretty pricey - and its less than a year old! I guess we'll see.
I've been towing it with my Dakota, but have never actually used it. I towed it to NC to get it taken care of (a RV place down there) and then towed it back a couple weeks/month later.

Hi everyone! Thanks for taking a look and special thanks to Cliffmeister2000 for posting my photos (I really had no idea how to). I've been so caught up with a huge mess lately that I have not been on here since I posted and it still has not been sold if anyone is interested :(
Regardless, I found something very cool that I thought some people might be interested in. Its a nostalgia electric microwave and a coffemaker/toaster/mini skillet. Its absolutely adorable and I've ordered it for my shasta in case it doesn't sell and I keep it :D
Aren't they an awesome little package??????

I think your Shasta is a gem and you should keep it unless you find something else you really LOVE.
That front kitchen is just awesome. Where did you order the appliances from?

I've seen the microwave on that site mentioned above, but the little coffee maker and there's also a matching fridge I've seen that is not sold from any sites other than BJ's (Costco-type place) but I have yet to see it pop up online. When it does I'll post it up here!

I just saw them available in the latest BJ's Wholesale Club flyer. If BJ's in your area, might be good to see them up close instead of buying on line.
