Up until now we have tent camped but that will change by summers end and they have always went with us. Two Yorkies, small and loves to go where ever we go. Not yippy or face biters like people said they would be. They will be joining us for our first outing.

Paddy is a great traveler. At 5 months she was already camping.

I never would have considered going camping without my dog, but she was a companion type dog. Sometimes she restricted what I could see and do, but now that she is gone, I'm not sorry I did it that way, and chances are, didn't miss that much.

The real problem was when I'd tell her to go get in the trailer at bed time and she'd jump into the one that I loaned to Dean. She camped in it more than Dean had, thought it was hers. Doug

Cats.
Popup trailers.
Not a great mix, sad to admit ... but in camp backyard? you bet, they're right here beside us.

I fear what might happen to them, with the drought, if they traveled too far from home these days, as we've had nearly triple the normal number of rabies cases in parts of Texas, and other parts of Texas are still on fire. None of them -- Rushlight, Kymba, Bearcat, Redcat, Tribble, Bandit, or Alex -- is under 10 years old now.

Rushlight has taken to enjoying a ride around the block in the pickup, from time to time.
I think he just likes the air conditioning.

I'd never considered taking my cat camping...

I don't know of any campsites in New Zealand which would allow any sort of pets. As far as I'm aware dogs have to be under control at all times in public places here, which means either on a leash or very well trained and super obedient.

You occasionally see farm vehicles with dogs tied in the back but never roaming free. Dogs are also banned from all public spaces like malls and supermarkets.
A different world I think!

Boarding is so expensive for our two. I'd rather have them with me to spoil as opposed to letting a boarder do it. They are small enough to be unobtrusive and warn us if something is close.

Look near the tongue box on the TD and you will see ours:
