Lets see your ink (and piercings)

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

OK -- now I'm at my home computer and can post the picture that would not work earlier . . . .

It's my one-and-only ink or piercing.

Three tattoos-the chinese symbol for "woman" just under my right collarbone. A fleur de lis on my back between my shoulder blades with the "laissez les bon temps rouler" saying around it (I love New Orleans), and the Wisconsin Solidarity fist on my right shoulder.

Six piercings. Not telling the locations. 8)

No piercings or tats here, but have nothing against anyone who want to adorn their body with art. I live with enough pain that I really don't want to subject my body to any more :(

No "tats" or piercings here although I have several self inflicted minor "holes" that have closed naturally or with help from MDs (and an occasional Navy Corpsman) with staples or sutures. I also have more than my share of Dr induced temporary openings. My favorite extra opening though is the dime sized hole that the doctor ground through (arguably) the thickest part of my skull right behind my left ear. It's OK though as when he was done poking around in my brain, he filled it in with bone dust, "medical grade" bondo, and wire mesh all held in place with three or four titanium screws. Hasn't leaked yet (although there are those that will argue the Dr. didn't put everything he found in there back, but he did leave a bit of shredded teflon behind).

Just for fun we got Suzy a "henna" tattoo when we were at Venice Beach a while back. It was supposed to last for 7 to 10 days. She, apparently, is allergic to henna, and the resulting rash/welts lasted a couple of months or so.

Like diamonds, tattoos are forever.

Cheers,

Gus

Similar story here. 15 years playing full time in a heavy metal band, and one of my best friends was (and still is) one of the leading tattoo artists in the country, and I have no tats. If I ever "made it" in the band, I would have gotten something similar to the image below on my front right forearm, (This is the part of the arm that faces the audience) but I was smart about it and waited. Otherwise I would have to wear long sleeves at my office job now. I will never cut my hair for a job though, never have, never will and I am an operations manager at BofA, I love walking in a meeting full of new people. Priceless...

So here is the tat I wanted, a rendition off of this one anyway. This is a character from a graphic novel called Elfquest. It was a very mature story, and this was a half elf half troll and his mixed blood made him insane. He always spoke in rhyme and he did not know who to be loyal too so he spent hundreds of years building a plan for them to come together and battle and the winner he will be loyal to. In this image, the tables were turned and the elves banded with a group of trolls from their homeland to fight the other trolls together. This scene is him is complete emotional anguish over what to do. It was a very powerful scene in context to the story, and I have always felt that I had two sides to myself, (No Sybil here) I just can wear many hats, so I identified with this..

Too much info, but hey, it's a forum, we're supposed to talk...

I have stopped at one tat for now. It has to be VERY special for me to permanently put it on my body! Amanda

Tattoos/piercings

Postby valindthesecond » Tue Aug 23, 2011 1:23 am

I dont have a tattoo or piercings and I dont think I ever will, that being said...I think it's awesome you express yourself through those means. For those who claim "I'm just old fashioned" tattoos and piercings have been around alot longer than "our" culture. If anything you are "just going with the new age". We are all different, and yet we all have some common interest that brings us together on this site. So the next time you are at a diner or in a bank and you see a guy or girl with a tattoo or a tongue ring just remember they may love tear drops and TTT just like you, so don't get up and leave or make snide comments. Smile and say hello.

Oops Grant, I guess that my less-than positive post about tats, will prevent you from adding my woody TD to your beautiful Dam Gathering arm artwork. Bummer, buddy. Nevertheless, I'll continue to join you for the wonderful togetherness experience next year at Shasta. (Cheers)

I have seen Grants tattoo in person and it is spectacular. No tats for me but my wife has a few. I always kind of wanted one but could never figure out what it would be.

As for the age thing and sagging and all that. I think that if you get a tattoo when you are young, when you get old and saggy you are not going to give poo what your old tattoo looks like.

Mine is on my right hip. A rosebud.

I want a new one on my left wrist, under my watch, of a cat's paw. Just haven't done it.
