Hot and sunny every day may sound nice, but it is taking it's toll on us here in Texas...

No big fireworks display over Lady Bird Lake by the city this year.

In the past, it was great fun to ride bikes to downtown, sit on the bridge and watch the show, accompanied by the Austin symphony orchestra playing the 1812 Overture. Fireworks sales also banned. Some towns are putting on a laser light display, however that works.

About 100 degrees right now in early afternoon. All of Texas is a total tinderbox.

Worst drought on record, absolutely no relief in sight, the lake levels are dropping rapidly and Austin still allows residential watering twice a week. Perplexing. We are working on just trying to keep trees alive.

We still have one or two ski resorts open up here in Washington State. I live on the dry side of the state and the weather up here has been mild and pleasant. Only a few hot days so far. Texas is a great state but I don't think I would like the heat. I'm suprised I have'nt moved to the west side were it rains more. As far as campfires in a burn ban area, can you get away with a fire pit filled with charcoal ?

Oh, yes, send rain! No Lightning!!! I've already spent a week in a hotel room with two nine-year-olds, and I don't care to evacuate from a forest fire again this summer.
