Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Minnesota

Hope no one plans on camping at Minnesota state parks any time soon. The politicians only talked for 90 minutes this week. And the vandals are having a field day destroying the parks and rest areas.
At least the state employees that were laid off qualify for unemployment,,, oh wait that office has been closed.

So fustrating......

what sucks about this is now all the construction folks are now collecting unemployment. Now next winter when they could use it they might either not have any left or run out halfways thru winter before the start of the next construction season. nice...

My brother works in the road construction industry as a private truck driver.

He has been working shorter work days, 8 hours instead of 12 + on city and county projects.

The real issue will be related to original contract completion dates. For instance if contract stated project to be done in 60 days, at this point have lost 6+ working days. Also lost days preparing roads for shutdown, then will have to remove shutdown construction, then resume contracted construction project.

Most companies have moved onto private, city, or county projects. These projects also have completion timelines. So when the state resumes business, contractors will complete current projects then move back to state projects.

There will be many lawsuits if state requires contractors to complete project based upon original contracts. Minnesota will be sued for breach of contracts for stopping work.

So no body is winning.

I can't believe how much this is going to cost us in the long run.

Miller/Coors Co. couldn't get their liquor permit renewed by July 1, so guess what? They may have to pull all their inventory from MN! Cig's are in the same boat. Lost the lotto and state parks which is going to cost millions of dollars in the long run.

I hope we remember this next fall and vote every single one of them out of office. Just plain stupid that they are getting paid and they don't even have the talent to balance a checkbook :x

(going to the bank to get a loan for a truck load of beer. I think bootlegging is back!!! )

For the sake of our neighbor, the great state of Minnesota, I hope it all gets resolved soon. From the sound of today's news, it looks like progress may be in the wind.

Sounds like one side is finally "giving in". I don't really call that progress. Dayton will "give in" IF he gets to fund a few of his pet projects.

How is that going to fix the problem?? Singling out certain people (in this case smokers) to pay additional taxes is just wrong.

500 million for "construction projects"... where? The metro area AGAIN? Doesn't help me out one bit.

I don't know. Sounds to me like politics as usual. But, right now this may be a short term fix to get everyone back to work.

I still think we the people should get to vote ourselves on some of these issue that plague our beautiful nation!

Ok, enough political talk. Let's get those State Parks open and go camping!!!!

Cars,

The wacky thing about Miller is that they did pay on time, but overpaid.
Their check was return instead of refunding the difference. So, for that they are penalized.

Really proud of my state. Think of the lost revenue.

Fixing up the damage done to the state parks and wayside rests is going to cost us more too. The vandals have been having fun.
