My BIG trailer

Postby 2bits » Wed Jul 06, 2011 11:09 pm

I took a cool photo at sundown in my new home when the light was peeking through the blinds and it gave the coolest tone to the room. I love my big trailer!

Very nice. I would be willing to bet it looks not much like it did coming from the factory (a really good thing).

Thomas,

:applause:  :applause:

Your "big trailer" is coming along rather nicely. By this photo, I say that the living area is finished.

And, from previous posts, I know the kitchen is done. Are there any areas left to renovate?

Take care,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Well I still need to do the baseboards in the living and kitchen but beyond that it is complete! Oh yeah, I need to paint the front door, why I waited on that one is beyond me, but that is next on my list.

I do have more to do in back, I need to pull up the carpet in both bedrooms and lay a new floor down on top of the existing one, and install new carpet. I already have the carpet so the only expense will be the OSB flooring with is cheap at $6 a sheet. Just the time and it is too hot to be doing it now and the floors are actually fine, but since I need to replace the carpet anyway, I might as well drop a solid new floor in while it is up.

My back door also has a small leak, whenever there is torrential rain or it rains for days on end (which we seem to have gotten alot of this year) it drips just a little. It's built like a trailer, so I will basically just need to rip out the entire section probably 10 feet wide and rebuild the framing, re insulate, and put new paneling up. That is AFTER I fix the leak. That is the #1 Fall job.

I still have not plugged in my TV. There is so much crap that goes with a TV, Receiver, DVD player, VCR, converter box, and all the wires all for nothing. I have been using my computer to watch movies which works great and I haven't watched TV in years except for a little racing and football, so I am thinking about selling all my TV gear and just exiting the while arena.

After that I want to build my bar in the kitchen, that will be a just for fun project, but before I can do that I need to finish building the Monte Carlo so I can drive it over to my new house. So I still have a full plate, but getting moved out of the house, and getting the two sheds moved, built and finished were two other big hurdles behind me, so we have progression!!!

Thanks!
Thomas

Thomas,

Man...all that work is making me feel lazy. I'm not going to let my wife see this thread.

I understand the TV thing - used to be just hooking up the rabbit ears and plugging her. Our remote control was me yelling at my baby brother.

I still shooting to be finished by LCG. And then I've got a backlog of projects to do on our 25+ year old tract home. I guess it never ends.

Take care,
Tom

Haha you are funny Tom! Just watch out when I get my land! I will have a whole slew of stuff to do just to get moved out there and once I am in, I plan to replace my trailer door with some french doors and build a deck the runs the length of the trailer with a tornado shelter dug in underneath, and also build a "carport" for the entire trailer to protect it from the elements, not to mention making nature trails through the woods and building little decks and gazebos all along the creek. Yes this is like a 5 year plan, not a next week plan! LOL....

You have an awesome house by the way, laid out very nice.

Nice looking big trailer Thomas. I have been watching since you first started fixing it up. Once you get on the land and get it the way you want it... Sounds like it will be really nice to.,, Maybe someday if I am in your area I could stop in.. and walk the trails. Once my tear is done I plan to start taking more photography trips with it

Wow, you are quite the ways up there, but once I am moved there will DEFINITELY be a yearly (or more) "2bit Gathering" at my place! That is one of my dreams to host a gathering in a beautiful setting.

That would be cool. I would love to join in.. Yes there is a mile or two between us. But I am working on plans for a big " shooting " trip. I am planning to leave here. Head out to the west coast of BC, Then south along the west coast of the USA around the bottom to Florida, then back up to the east coast of Canada then home... :) So some time in there I am sure I could make it your way

There was a 1974 era mobile home on my place when I bought it. The trailer was toast. They had added on a two story section, using stumps for the foundation...and I will say that it was a good example of why we should (and do) have building codes. They didn't do it to code. The wiring was scary. It had extension cords wired to regular wiring. Anyway, to my point.

When I first looked at this property, I had been told it had a mobile home on it.
I couldn't find it. Later, I found out I was in the right place. The trailer was encased in cedar and looked like a house. The owners worked at a cedar mill.

It looked nice, from the outside and from a distance. It had a covered porch along the whole front and a deck. But close up, you could see that no upkeep had been done and things were rotted.

It was cute, at one time.
