Little Guy Silver Shadow pealing. *Updated photo page 2*

Washing the dust off with a garden hose and the silver coating started pealing off where a patch had fallen off with a chunk of ice this last winter.

Not the fault of Little Guy but the maker Lumilux.
I am way past any of their "Limited Warranty"
What looks good on the showroom floor doesn't always remain that way.
On a side note. The screws holding the cabinets together are starting to fall out.
But I expected that with the kind of abuse I give it.
May be a redesign for it in the future or sell it and get something like a Scamp.

Having painted airplanes years ago the secret of painting aluminum is in the prep.

but others have painted theirs I'm sure you could do a two tone and it would turn out great.

I have owned two scamps if I were to do it again I would go for a Casita I like the 17 footer with the capability to sleep 3 different ways.
seemed like a lot more room.

I live close to Paine Field where Boeing is puting the 787 together.
Maybe I could get them to paint my trailer with the same stuff they are using on the 747-8 freighter.

Maybe a big vinyl decal would cover that up

If you lived near Little Rock and yours was a 5x8 Silver Shadow, I could sell you an almost perfect hatch at a reasonable price.

My Silver Shadow had some problems with electrolysis, but was handled satisfactorily by Little Guy. When I noticed a suspect, and small, spot on the hatch, a new hatch was shipped to an RV dealer here for replacement.

I still have the other hatch stored in a friend's garage. I haven't looked at it in about a year, but it seemed fine at that time.

Freight/shipping to your area would probably be expensive.

What year Silver Shadow is yours? I like the third brake light too. Did you install that yourself?

Thanks,
John

It's a 2008 Little Guy Silver Shadow.
I got the 3rd brake light from JC Whitney. Its a 2 bulb unit wired to the brake light on each side so it also works a brake light & a turn signal.
People seem to notice it more than the stock tail lights that are mounted too low in my opinion.
Notice too that I mounted the license plate on the hatch.
I would have tore it off going thru dry washes long ago.

How did you run the wiring to the 3rd brake light, and which part is it from JC Whitney? I'm interested in adding this to my Silver Shadow.

this one. It's a 2 bulb unit
http://www.jcwhitney.com/stick-on-roof-mount-third-brake-light/p2003589.jcwx?filterid=j1
Wiring was simple
1 wire to ground.
1 wire to the right brake/turn signal wire.
1 wire to the left brake/turn signal wire.
In my case that was easy because I have removed the under floor storage to get more head room and rerouted the wires from down the center to down the left side.
that made accessing the wires & identifying them easier.
I also used small bolts in mounting it. I didn't want to rely on the stickey tape only.

You should have a chat with Little Guy, they had a quality problem and have made good on repairs on trailers that were out of warranty. A three year old trailer should not have a problem.

Looks to me from the picture that you have galvanized steel under that paint. Almost nothing will stick to galvanized for very long. Try a fridge magnet to see what you have for sure. Bill
