Vet uses this technique to calm cats on examination table.

Saw this and immediately thought of you.

The opinions in this post are my own. My comments are directed to those that might like an alternative approach to those already espoused. There is the right way,the wrong way,the USMC way, your way, my way, and the highway.

I think you actually know the answer to that question.

Cheers,

I have seen that before although I have never tried it.

It may be a little tough to apply to a cat trying to scratch your eyes out

That seemed so good that I tried it on my very timid, often scared cat. Sure enough, the cat became completely immobile, but I think the awful little squeaking that came out of her was the same noise she made to her mother when she picked her up that same way - very quietly, maybe so a predator wouldn't hear it?

Combined with staring at me with a really pitiful look, she succeeded in making me take the clip off!

...NO, but, I find a 2x4...forcibly applied to the same spot to be pretty effective :o :D ;)

Steel 2X4 tubing works better than a wooden 2X4 for a couple of reasons.
First the steel measures a full 2X4 inches and second it's harder. I'll never admit to hitting one of my boys with one but I have chased em around when holding a steel 2X4.

Gus

That cat looked anything but calm. I think it is more of a dominance method.
God Bless
