My husband said that so I made it bigger! Never regretted it! Be sure to be sensitive to her needs too. It is easy to get other views, but is she is not comfortable you will not be either. Perhaps you could find one and let her lay down in it. Get a real feel for how much space is inside!

We didn't build ours til the kids were gone, but I can tell you I had a popup up when the kids were smaller and it was a pain in the u know where. We moved up to it from a tent, then back down to a tent. I found it more work than a tent. You have to open it up to put stuff in it, then close it, then you forgot something, and have to open it up again, or just still pack everything back in the car. Yes, you are off the ground and have semi real beds, but you have to set the whole thing up before you go to bed. I now have to open the door and climb in. love it. My son bought a popup at the urging of his wife two years ago. Last year they bought a TTT, hated the tent trailer.

But many people love their pop ups. ;)

Camp Inn has a teardrop model, the Raindrop or 560 that has bunkbeds.

They are located north of New Lisbon, WI.

Check out their website: http://www.tinycamper.com/

Great product.

do some more searching on this site, i know there are a couple of pop up type campers. hmmm maybe they are not exactly pop ups but they are ones that parts raise up.

i think the name is ladybug? check out the hall of fame and the design library at the top.

have fun checking out all the different ones here.

If you are talking small kids, less then 4' tall, a bunk is an easy solution. Build a 5' wide X 5' high Teardrop. I would consider 10' long ,big enough and a good use of materials. You have a queen size bed for you and your wife and a bunk cross ways over your feet for the kid. If the kids are bigger just build a tent off of one door that the kids sleep in. It's like their little apartment attached to the Teardrop. If all else fails ,suggest a cargo conversion. There are many real well done ones that combine all the features you could want with out having to set up a pop up.

In my opinion if I had small kids to worry about I'd build or buy the largest tear available. Buns or hammock style beds come to mind as do an attached screen room. I might opt for the screen room/side tent idea if security wasn't an issue. Keeping the door open to the tear would provide any needed contact or monitoring. Could also use the baby monitors in this separated bedroom idea.

I agree pop ups a pain, plus resale on those much less than on a tear it appears. Won't even get into how much lighter and easier to tow tears generally are.

My girlfriend has a 2 year old son, and we take him whenever we go. I made up a little bed for him, on the shelf above our feet. We lose some storage room, so now we just keep one bag on the shelf and there is still enough room for the little one.

I made some removable "bunk bed rails" out of 1x2 oak boards that keep him from rolling onto us. I don't know why, but I don't have pictures of it yet. I'm picking up the trailer after work, so I'll take a couple quick pics then.

Keep talking to the wife!! Don't give up yet!

You need to talk to Starleen (aka Scott) He's made several pop top trailers. Hes the one to talk to about them.

...yep look at Scott's early stuff...he built a nice little "poptop"(he has a now teenage girl)...also look at the "Winter Warrior" in the design library long with the "2+2"...the "Widget/Midget" is pretty nice as well if you are wanting something more in the "standy" type of trailer...remember, you are only limited by your imagination!!!!!!!!
