1964 = Retro, Right ? Citroen CX 6 wheeler incl.

Kinda cryptic, poo title.

But how do you title a show and tell about a Citroen CX Loadrunner, 6 wheel conversion, which is towing a 1964 Piper Comanche aeroplane thats been converted into a small caravan?

I thought some of you do buy Retro Cars, which has a great article in it on both, and the builder.

I think, being a 1964 model, the airframe must have had its day.

I Googled and read a bit more about it.

The guy seems to have bought little more than the central fuselage, the tailpiece, dash etc seems to be home made.

He must have been an awesome and inspiring teacher to have at school.

I'm a Citroen fan - they're not at all common over here - and
this guy really has a creative imagination going on. Between
getting his CX transformed into a Loadrunner version and then
converting the Piper fuselage into a very untypical TD --- Well,
it'd be extremely hard to surpass this rig on the uniqueness scale!

Being a pilot I can appreciate the Comanche & the conversion however, thats a really lightweight fuselage so be really careful in highway crosswinds with that tall V stabilizer. Looks like it could flip you over...

You're welcome. I've not had as much luck finding items to recycle as
you have. 'Thought the stove/oven you built out if the LP gas bottle was
a very successful project!

I agree, he must be one heck of a teacher if he can convey his
resourcefulness and vision to his students and have that inspire them to
emulate his world and life view.

Hi Pottercounty/Tim,

I was wondering about his leaving the tail section on too. It definitely
telegraphs what the TD/Caravan used to be to the uninitiated. I was
wondering why he didn't cut the rear section of the fuselage off before the
"G" or "L" or a bit before the "G" of the identifying number, angling
the cut a la DR Kamm's criteria for such. He must have wanted the novelty
of the full fuselage or felt it wasn't worth the effort after deciding what
length he needed for the sleep area, since that does go a bit into the taper
of the rear section of the fuselage.

Hi Mezmo/Norm, I wish I was not as self concious about some of the stuff I build, make or change the use of.... otherwise you would see a lot more of what I get up to.

Most people do not " get " what guys like me are up to , it is never about the money or cost of making an item, it is easy to go out and buy stuff, but I get a kick out of peoples surprise or even shock when they find out or figure out what an item started its life as.
