Hello. And Whew what a thread!

Postby bonnie » Sun Jul 24, 2011 4:51 pm

:D My name is Bonnie and I've got foamie fever.

I recently discovered my 07 Sentra does have a tow ability, granted it's only 1K. But I could tow something, right? So I went looking and found Foamies!!

I should mention I've been off work for a week getting over Shingles. In this heat no less! Thank you all for entertaining me and teaching me so much.

I've decided on a 4x8 Squidget Pop Top. Bought the plans. Made a lot of notes and such. The budget will keep this project from going at blazing speed, but I will clean out the garage and tidy up the basement, so I can keep working while the St. Louis metro area bakes in this heat and humidity.
Remember, the turtle won. :)

Once I went in the shop and the shade felt so good. The thermometer was still over 100. There was also a few nights it didn't get under 100. Had to keep irrigating the crops. And we did not have cabs on the tractors with AC then. Or AC in the pickups. I was much younger then, and lighter. I could not take it now.

No seed corn around here, but plenty of rocks to pick, usually in windy cold to rather warm temps.

welcome. my car only has a tow cap of 1000. so i know what you mean. i was here for a couple years deciding on what to build lightweight. then gpw came up with this thread. and the rest is history. i built a foamie and have no problems towing it.

i even thought about a pop up myself. but decided against it for now. good luck to you and start a build thread with pics. welcome.

Hey Bonnie welcome and good luck with your build.

GPW I spent the last three blazing hot days boating in Pa. Friday the news called for a heat index of 115 degrees in the sun and about 105 in the shade. The saving grace was water temps on the river of about 63 degrees.

BTW we had a hell of a blow through the camp Friday night. The trailer rocked but was rock solid. The wind was so strong that it actually moved the port-o-potty about a foot!

Sorry to hear you guys are having so much Heat , usually reserved for us down South ... We're actually used to it , but lately all we've been having is Rain , and more rain ... :o In the 80's here every day .... I'll have to get out a sweater ...
But Don't worry .... Slow Cowboy told everybody there's no such thing as global warming ... I'm much relieved to hear that ... besides who believes all those goofy scientists anyway ??? :R

Pat, my foamie is outside sitting on the trailer (unattached as yet - no bolts ) , and despite the wind and rainstorms , it hasn't budged ... amazing ...

we finally got rain yesterday and today. i guess they were right about the cold front. temps today so far are 77 with a feels like 82.

i do believe in global warming. everyone has a right to their opinions.

pat, it sure is good to hear about you getting out with that foamie. sounds like you had another good trip.

Opinions , seems everybody's got one ... just like ... The only good opinion is when we're right ...   Far as Global Warming , Nature has a way of dealing with the causes , usually a process of extinction .. :o

i was thinking of adding the "everyone's got one' phrase. but i seriously left that one for you gpw.

i have no plans for another trip til oct. kind of sad about it, but real life gets in the way. too many other things right now needs money. so no trips til october. that will make 6 trips for this year. not too bad for me. normally in the tent we only make 1-3 trips during the season. so am i thrilled about my foamie.
..i can't say this enough, but thanks gpw for starting this thread. and thanks to all those jerkers that came and built this foamie for me. :applause:

Eagle , I think it's just given us all a way to have a Reliable and Rot proof camper without having to spend a lot of money ... or the requirement of advanced woodworking skills ... Just "a little help from our friends " and a LOT of T2 ... No need for a special gas guzzling TV either ... ;)
Truly a Thrifty Alternative !!!!

... and there's always that 500lb. of Beer too ...

Is 500 lb of beer enough to swim in? Getting warm here today.

I have 2 vehicles down right now and I am seeing if I can get them running again. Spent yesterday working under the dash of 2 and doing other stuff on them. I do not like working under, in, around the dash of a vehicle. Luckily I do have a home made lifting device I can get them into the air a bit. Helps a whole lot.
