IT"S WORKING!

I have had yet a second Birthday this year.
Tests showed my heart had slowed to thirty
some beats a minute. Some times it stopped
all together!
My doc told me to go next door to my cardiologist.
Cardiologist said don't wait for something to happen.
Get to the hospital Thursday. (yesterday) where he
and the company rep installed a pacemaker. As soon
as I woke up, I felt better. I spent the night and came
home today. I just keep feeling better and better. I
can't drive for the next week and I see him then. Also
can't lift my left arm above my shoulder and can't lift
over five pounds.They don't want me to pull the wires
out. Probably in four to six weeks the wires will be scarred
over in my heart and I can begin riding my bike again.

I think that if the technology is available and you have access to it,
then go ahead and use it if you can, especially if it is needed. Your new
pacemaker is a perfect example.

Hey Steve take your time and don't rush it bud. Even though you feel better give your body time to get used to its new hardware before you start back on the bike. I haven't dealt with it personally but my sis has recently and the twit over did it the first week and ended up back in the hospital but after resting she is now back to her loving obnoxious self, Just take care of yourself bud and you'll be back on the bike like before .

Thank you for your tips and your obvious concern.
I certainly don't plan on overdoing it any time soon.
Having said that I want to get up to Folsom to visit
my wife in the "Memory Unit" of a dementia facility.

Steve, Great feeling isn't it? So glad to hear you are doing well.

I just went through a life changing situation myself. (not trying to hi-jack this) I went in the hospital Thursday for a minor operation, sinus stuff, while on the table, the Dr. halted everything before they put me under, found my heart was in Atrial Fibrillation?? Sent to PCU, ASAP, they found blood clots in two of my ventricals after probing down inside with camera. Was told a blood clot could have been released during operation and caused a Stroke! Good catch Doc! Now I have to be monitored and medicated till things thin out.

At least we are both still here. Stay safe and healthy.

I'm so glad you posted this, Steve! My dad is going through the same thing and the heart monitor people called and asked what his symptoms were and where he was.. he was working out.

Docs are probably going the pacemaker route, like yours. It's wonderful to hear how well you are doing!!!

Wow, Steve you are a lucky man to still be with us. That was a seriously low heart rate.

I have been on a Vegan diet plus no oils for over 60 days now, and my BP was 101/64 this morning. My pulse rate was 59 and I thought that was low.

Glad you got the pacemaker. I wish you the best.
