Wolf , Good Luck on those !!! I'd rather pull a motor than work under the dash (on my back upside down ) ... New cars are even WORSE ... Long gone are the days of the Backyard mechanic , a Hobby I much enjoyed .... pre computers ...

I share those sentiments! My wife's chevy has no fewer than 7 computers I was told, and the BCM (body control module) does not always do what it is supposed to do. Sometimes the compass goes haywire, sometimes the dome light and radio stay on, and we seem to go through a river of washer fluid a month. I'm scared to pop the hood! :?

Contrast that with my 84 Dodge peekup and my 75 Honda. All I need are a couple screwdrivers and some wrenches, and I can fix them on the side of the road in the dark during a thunderstorm...I know this because I HAVE DONE IT!

Give me an old flathead Nash any day.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross the road without having his motives questioned.

Yeah , they made the cars impossible to work on , except by the dealer , who hires the cheapest guys (idiots) they can find , charge a Fortune in hourly rate , not to mention the ridiculous markup on parts , and still they can't get it right ... A limb hit my side view mirror ... the Chevy dealer wanted 400 USD to replace it, and a full day in the shop ... Did it myself for 38 bucks (certi-fit) ... good as new , took 15 minutes ... Now what's wrong with that picture...
Once when I took the wife's car in , the mechanic came out and said the radiator was leaking , and I should let him put a new one in while I was there... I said NO , and when i got home , I found the leak , and the mechanics screwdriver where he loosened the lower hose clamp .... I complained to the management and they said they'd give me a free oil change as compensation ... I told them where they could put their Oil change ... :o Got a nice expensive screwdriver out the deal ... never been back ...
What's wrong with the world .... GREED !!!

What? Does it wash it's self? Are we getting to damn lazy we can't even pull the arm to have a pump squirt washer fluid on the window?

Even I am not that lazy.

i have no plans for another trip til oct. kind of sad about it, but real life gets in the way. too many other things right now needs money. so no trips til october. that will make 6 trips for this year. not too bad for me. normally in the tent we only make 1-3 trips during the season. so am i thrilled about my foamie.
..i can't say this enough, but thanks gpw for starting this thread. and thanks to all those jerkers that came and built this foamie for me. :applause:

You might not have another trip until Oct, but perhaps I can make a camping weekend at your place before that!! Leave all those people in the house.

Hugs,

oh no thank you! welcome to the forums! we used to live in florida, i don't know how i lived thru that heat. weather seems better here since that "cool" front came thru. i guess it really does make a difference with no himidity.

again, welcome aboard. please feel free to start a build thread and it is a must that you take pics, even if you think it is a pic of nothing. we love pics.

if you have any questions just ask away. someone will answer.

hey gpw...you've been quiet. everything ok?

Eagle , been spending all my time cleaning renovating the Studio .... almost done ... Soon as I have room enough , going to pull the little foamie in and finish up a few details ... Hot and Raining every day makes it tough to work outside ... but it sure is a good stress test for the Foamie .... No bubbling, de-laminating , cracking, peeling ... and No Leaks !!! Wish I'd known about this years ago ...

Been quiet because we seem to have covered most everything , AFAIK ... It's all in the hands and minds of the new builders now ... Only so much you can say about such a simple process... New developments are bound to happen as building diversity continues ... just awaiting everyone's progress...

I just wish I had a pallet of Foam ... :D Think of the possibilities ...

Well don't buy your foam at Loew's ... I talked to a manager , they said they'd be glad to order a palette and I'd pay shipping + 29USD a sheet + 9% tax ... that's retail ... Thats no deal , not even a break for bulk ... Bet I could easily beat that at HD ... probably even better at the insulation supplier... I do have to go over there , have to bring money .... just waiting for the money tree to bloom ...

still raining here ... cool though mid 80's .. 95% Humility :o

So many doors have opened since we started this Foamie TD discussion , so many Good ideas and solutions/alternatives ... Some pricy :o

I just think we need to further explore the Thrifty aspect of Foamies... It's already obvious we can construct and use a Foamie TD or TT for far less than a conventional wooden one ... and with the promise of Rot resistance and far less maintenance ,the relative Value of the unit is increased substantially over time ...
The aspect of not needing any specialized woodworking skills , precludes the need for specialized (and expensive ) tools ... Nor is the need for expensive adhesives, wood sealants and/or paint ...
Starting to seem Really Thrifty now eh ....
