Hello from SE Texas

Postby Stouttrout » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:29 pm

Been dropping in here for quite awhile but never posted, just lurked. Now I finally came to the conclusion I NEED a TearDrop. I have worked on several design in the past four years and I think I finally have it worked out. I plan to built two this winter. One will be a tow behind, to pull with one of the jeeps. It will sit a little high, be lightweight, 5x8, able to sleep me (6'-6" 280lbs, my wife, and my little girl. We will need AC but that is about it. I will have some storage in the rear for water, stove and hot water shower. We are planning to a Colorado and Big Ben Excursion next summer.

The second will be to put on the front of a 22' carhauler. I planning to build it out foam and cover it in Fiberglass. Not sure what I will coat it with but I thinking the rubberized roof coating or a thin coat of spray on bedliner in a light color. no storage on this, just a sleeper.

Both will have some duct work that i can hook an AC to and pipe in some cold air.

Welcome Stouttrout!

Whereabouts in SE Texas are you from?

We've got quite a few teardroppers in the great state. Hope to see you at a gathering some time!

If you haven't already, you may want to swing by the South Central section to see local gatherings.

Take care,
Tom

Thanks guys. I am from a small town near Beaumont, Tx, Sour Lake.

Starleen, I have seen you build. How did the fiberglass and epoxy work? Has it held up good. i have worked with it in the past and thought about using but couldn;t find anyone using it. Has it cracked or anything anywhere?

One my foamie I plan to go with Fiberglass on the whole thing.
