***********AN UPDATE*************
Some of my license plates were very old. Others were not. When I purchased the cars that I have now, they had a temp license plate installed in the back. There wasn't even a plate holder or even holes for a plate in the front. They came from the dealership that way. They have never had a plate on the front. When the permanent plates arrived, I installed one and put the other aside.
Well, about 2 weeks ago, I decided to go to the state park. I left after 30 minutes. The heat was just too much to bear. Anyway, on my way out, the rangers stopped me and gave me a warning. They said that the law says that in Texas you must have a plate in the front and back. I have noticed hundreds of cars w/o them in the front. I looked it up on the web, and sure enough almost all states require both. That was news to me because I have only had 1 car in the last 10 years that had a plate in the front. This was the first time that I was stopped for that...and I have been stopped before for being a speed limit overachiever, but nothing was said about the plateless front.
