it's been over a decade, so i can't claim to know what burning man is all about now... i was there '99 & '01.
however, when i was there it was incredible. a few friends and i traveled halfway across the country, on the road, not knowing what obstacles we would meet along the way... and there were a few.
anyway, when we arrived, a couple days late & still a bit unsure...
(it's a frikkin desert!... bring a mask & goggles *everywhere* for unexpected dirt devils/ storms!)
...a dusty, yet beautiful & friendly girl from the already-arrived camp next door walked over with a heaping plate of food & even before introductions said "welcome! are you hungry? we made too much food..."
so after a super long journey we had delicious burritos thanks to our new neighbors before we even set up camp & as we made introductions.
that said, i can only speak from my experiences. it *can* be a party place, or it *can* be whatever you want... but it's definitely a spot where creative people go & exchange ideas.
