1 door or 2?

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

1 door or 2?

Postby Robbie » Fri Aug 12, 2011 9:17 am

So I've got the final profile for my modified Benroy build finished in AutoCAD and I'm going back and forth on whether to have 1 door on the passenger side or have 2 doors. I'm having the profiles CNC'd here at my work so it would be no more work for me other than adding another CNC program. I'm just looking for your guys opinions on builds that you've done that have had 1 door or 2 doors and why you did that. Benefits? Downfalls? My doors will be rectangular with the traditional piano hinges, t-molding, door caps, and an interior jamb of probably maple solids with a window and latch. Thanks.

go with 2 unless you like waking somebody up to get out of the trailer, especially if you get up early to make a special surprise breakfast

Well that settles that! Thanks for the quick replies. And sorry for my lack of search! I guess I just jumped the gun on the topic instead of taking a few minutes.

I must have missed something, wouldn't it actually be one less CNC program to make two doors, just run the same program twice?

+1 to above. Two doors saves marriage or relationship with significant other.

You didn't miss anything. Maybe I worded it weird. Lol. But for 2 doors it would be the same program. If I only had 1 door then it would be 2 programs, one with the door opening and one without. Saves me the time though as I'm gonna go with 2 doors.

The MAIN reason we traded in #1 for #7 was to get two doors, and ours had/has lots of room inside to dress move around in etc.

I am building with one door but have framed out the space for a second door so I could add a second door with just a little work. I camp alone and didn't see the need for a second door at this time. Also building a 4 wide due to towing with compact vehicles so I'm sure I not the norm on the forum.

Maybe he's trying to say one dore if strictly solo camping, two if taking a partner? Just my guess...
