WFCO with Battery

I have the WF-8725 model converter.
I installed a deep cycle Marine battery from Walmart to power my 12v lights so I don't have to leave it hooked up during the frequent storms here lately. ( just a cautionary thing)

I've not used the lights on battery only much at all so...

The question I have is.... when I hook up the shore power, it seems the fan runs a lot and I've not noticed it cutting off yet.
Granted last few days I've been working without AC cause I screwed it up.
But I'm just now completing all my wiring circuits.
I've followed the diagram on loaders post in
thread well.
The site says :

It's not that it's that noisy or anything I'm just concerned I've not seen it shut off the last two days without pulling the fuse to the red wire.

Does the fan run constantly while charging?

I have the 8735 and, no, the fan doesn't stay on more than maybe 30 seconds at a time. I think you should call WFCO. Something may be wrong with the converter. If its new, it could be defective. If its used, maybe the previous owner modified it to work that way. If you have the instruction manual, there is a help line phone number buried on one of the pages. The help line people are very good, better than the manual. (I've misplaced my manual so can't give you the phone number.)

The fan will run anytime the convert is putting out a decent amount of power. If your battery is low or you have several 12v lights on the converter has to put out more juice.. You could also have a bad battery which would cause the charger to constantly run. With my converter just hooked to a charged battery the fan doesn't run. But if I turn on a several lights the the fan comes on and gets louder the more stuff I turn on.

yes, 8ball_99 that is what happens. I rarely notice the fan till I have two or three 12v lights in the camper on. my camper is dark inside. Need those lights to see the wiring I've been doing. Also need the light to touch up my wall and trim painting. I have no 110 lights in the camper yet that are being used. I've relied so far only on the 12v ones.
I'll remedy that today soon as I can get another period of time to work on it.

Nothing wrong with just running the 12v lights. Thats what there for! That fan can run non stop and it won't hurt anything. If you had a higher amperage converter you probably wouldn't notice it as much.. With the 25 amp ones it doesn't take much juice to kick the fan on..

yeah That's what I've learned. I just have two circuits of 12v ... patio lights on all 4 sides.. and another with 4 double bulb ceiling lights.
