Restoration Help: 1946 Kit Kamper Windows/Screens

Postby 46Kit » Thu Aug 18, 2011 6:44 pm

The other night I was looking at the windows and screens on the '46 Kit I picked up last month (been very busy and not much time to fool with it just yet...) I assume the windows are original as I've seen similar in photos. It's the type with a hinge along the top and a piece of flat bar attached to the lower part of the window frame to act as a prop against the window sill mounted in the door.

Was wondering if somebody could post some closeup pics of the window frame, prop and screen so I can see how it's supposed to be set up. Presently my screens don't have any opening for the prop bar to pass through. Also there is nothing to engage the part open position notches in the prop bar, though I do see a pair of holes in the lower sill either side of the prop bar and reckon some sort of sheet metal tab should be riveted there.

These reference photos will be much appreciated, I've done a bunch of searching on the web and all of the photos I've found either the curtains are closed or the pic is too small to make out any details of the window latch!
