Help....Using a strange corner molding

My budget squeezed out the use of normal corner trim (aluminum type that takes a 1" wide plastic bead insert trim).

I found this discarded plastic material at work that, in cross-section, looks/functions like the regular aluminum stuff. It is made of black polypropylene. Only problem is that the groove (where the screw heads need covering) is only about 3/4" wide. All the plastic insert bead I've seen online is 1" wide.

I've never layed hands on this bead, so I'm not familiar with it. To those that have used it, do you know if it could be trimmed along the edges to slightly narrow it? Or do you know if anyone makes a 3/4" wide bead? Thanks.

You could probably use the 1" trim as is. The crown would just be taller. The 3/4" wide insert trim is available. Here is a link:

Trap one leg between 2 good straight 2x4 and run the leg you want to shorten thru the table saw after a careful measurment. I ran across this stuff tossed out in a construction scrap pile.

What I found was an industrial corner guard to protect walls from carts and other transfer equipment. If you have a good heat gun and a steady hand it will form well. The only problem is too much heat and it will deform.

You may have just fixed me up! Only problem is that is black. I'll do some more research on Camco and see if they have other colors. The base I used is already black and I was wanting to use either white or red for the insert. I will use black if that is all they have.

You got a pic on that material you found? The stuff I used is an industrial conveyor belt base. It is a "wear item" that is changed periodically at work. Looks a lot like Hot Wheels toy car track. That is what we call it at work...Hot Wheel track.. It is 20' lengths. The cool thing is the side that is designed to wear is the underside in my application as a trailer trim.
