Rope size vs awning welt

Postby b.bodemer » Wed Aug 24, 2011 10:49 am

Anyone know what size rope would go in a standard awning rail(vs sewing in awning welt)? I have some leftover material and want to play around with an additional awning setup.

Thanks in advance,
Barb

1/4"

One of my camping buddies uses 1/4" 6 foot survey stakes ( available at rural king tractor supply etc.) and simply lays it in a tarp and folds it over them and starts sliding it in. It works great and will not pull out because of the hem in the tarp.

I'm going to have to try that when i get the awning rail in.
I have couple 100 feet of that cable since I've gone wireless and no satellite.

Depends on the size of your rail. Our PVC marine Kedar rail took 5/8" rope.

On my TTT, I used some leaky old 1/4" plastic water tubing from the swamp cooler and a silver tarp just like bobhenry suggested.
