For now I'm just using a screen door hook and eye ... Not finished with the Foamie yet ... yet to do the trim and small accessories ... like a proper window hook ...

Well, the allure of a foamie is cost, weight, and ease of working with it. I'm hoping the cost savings is real. If it is, I might be able to start one on the sly...

Mike ,sash lock would work ..... I could only find half of mine ... still looking for the other half ...

Cliff, the savings is enormous in time and materials ... Even better if you scavenge materials ... That's what I did ... I've only got about < 300USD in mine , and that's including the trailer ...

i have about $1200 give or take a few. i had to buy brand new, i have no scavanging skills. hehehe

Cliff, there ya' go eh !!! The two extremes .. all New(Eagle) or all scavenged (me)... or somewhere in between depending on what you have lying around ...

Just as a measure of cost ... my 6X12 in all wood (new) was about $2800, and that was with a used boat trailer ... Using the very Best materials would have upped the cost another 500 USD easily ... And it was much Heavier ... although towed very well !
Figuring the complete Foamie will weigh around 500-600#... Should tow like nothings there... almost ..

Ps. That's without the 500# of Beer...

Mike , I'm generally thinking one could easily build a Foamie (all new) for about one Half the price of a regular wooden TD .. Probably Half the weight too ... Carry More Beer ...

Now I am thinking I need to do an analysis on the weight of beer. 18 packs of bottles of course.

Okay, it seems an 18 pack of Blue Light full is 22 pounds exactly.

Once you drink the contents, the remnants are 8.2 pounds. So I guess that's enough ballast for the drive home.

So if you start with 23 18 packs @ 506 pounds...

you'll have 188.6 pounds of ballast for the drive home... If you drink it all, and don't give any bottles away.

I figured out that I had about $650, including the trailer/ new tires/ new bearings, in my 4x8 TD. Still need a bit of finish work inside but that will probably be less than $50. That was with an old boat trailer $40, new tires about $160, and bearings about $30.

Pat , good find on that boat trailer ... I have one too ... I was planning on just getting a mid size (1200#) HF trailer , but that would blow the budget ... So am going to just use the boat trailer I have ... The boat trailer is much more STOUT than the HF ... and it's just a little long in the back , so considering a bicycle rack for that space in the rear ... couple bikes in the back shouldn't add that much weight aft ...
